  1. Two man hunter teams rule the night, create a QB battle at night in a town with bunch of two man tank hunter teams and they'll take out just about anything. Flame throwers & flame thrower tanks are also a real knick in night battles. I had one flame thrower tank parked between two buildings and along came a group of enemy tankettes down the road, my flame thrower tanke let lose and it took out all fore enemy tankettes with two shots.
  2. Wish list 1. Ability to select any vehicle and save as "German captured XX Tank" or "Soviet captured XX vehicle" with the editor. 2. Infantry Editor - select the nation, the number of men, select weapons from a list box, amount of anmo and save as "xx infantry". 3. Ability to save Maps at any time "Quick battles, during a battle/operation or at the end of a game". 4. More placeholders for vehicles for the future, let's face it, it's gone be 3 years or more before we see another release. It shure would be nice to see a couple of new vehicles a year or so from now.
  3. Speaking of Kubelwagens/Jeeps I wonder if we'll see a Kublewagens with a MG mount or Jeeps with MGs in the CMBB update.

  5. I'm suprised how easy a Panzer IIC can defeat a T34/41 at 1000M and how hard it is to kill a Stug III. I had one T34-M41 go toe to toe with a StugIII at a 110 meters, the StugIII took 27 hits including 9 penetrating hits over 3 turns before it popped smoke and retreated.
  6. ***spoiler*** (Approach on Sevastopol) * * * * * * * * * * * I just played "Approach to Sevastopol - 45 turn battle" and I've never seen this before, I had two T34's use all of their ammo. In all of games of CMBO I've played I never seen any tank, survive this long in an armor battle. I had two T34's (green crews) hull down on a little dip in the road and they took out 38 of 50 German vehicles lost including 4 T34 -41's -- total victory! CMBB - hated the demo, but starting to enjoy the Eastern Front (edited to add spoiler alert) [ October 04, 2002, 07:30 PM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
  7. Thanks for the list:cool: I had hoped BTS would have provide a complete list by now.
  8. Dragon Army - you didn't answer my question I saw a picture inside a factory that had crates in it. Are crates part of a tile, or are they objects you can place anywhere on the map?
  9. What about? WZ.29 - Poland Staghound - UK/Lease Lend Morris Arm Car - UK/Lease Lend AEC Arm Car - UK/Lease Lend Herrinton Arm Car - UK/Lease Lend AMR.33/35 - Ex French AMC.29 - Ex French I wish someone would post a vehcile list
  10. Crates? I saw a picture inside a factory that had crates in it. Are crates part of a tile, or are they objects you can place anywhere on the map? If so can you destroy crates? Thanks
  11. When are we going to see a vehicle list? Crates: I saw crates inside one of the factory pics, are they part of a tile or are they objects you can place? If so can you destroy them, blow them up?
  12. On the last turn of a battle when the Germans rush to try take the building (objective) only to have a flamethrower open up from the second floor ouch!! thats gotta hurt
  13. No T28's, T35's, Lee/Grants? I still want to see list of vehicles before I buy.
  14. The trick to this scenario as russians is to create a three sided box and let the german tanks roll into the box so they are attacked on all three sides at once. I've done this and defeated AI even when it had 50% more tanks.
  15. Where are all of the after action reports for CMBB?
  16. Partisans are they Russian only? I've read where Russian units would sometimes attack their own partisans after they finished fighting the Germans. How are partisans modeled in CMBB? Can they switch sides if attacked?
  17. I was hoping the Editor would be a little more open in this release. I would really like the ablity to just modify/equip my own infantry squads. Any changing of the weapons data would be a real nightmare. If you can tell wind direction from the trees maybe it's not just eye candy. Thanks
  18. 1. What can we edit in CMBB that we couldn't in CMBO besides BMP files? 2. Is there some tactical reason for trees blowing in the wind, or is it just eye candy?
  19. Look out Sergeant, the treads are falling off the tank! I remember seeing CMBO screen shots when it was the second coming of computer AH's version of squad leader. The first failed attempt ended up as Close Combat. I remember down loading and playing the first CMBO demo and at first I wasn't sure what to make of it was so different from other wargames, I wasn't even sure I liked it. The more I played it the more I found I liked it and still play CMBO. BTS even released a third scenario for the demo, I'd never seen a game company do that before. I'm not a not a big fan of the East Front but, waited and download and played the demo not sure of what to expect. I found that the demo to be one side affairs, this may be historically accurate but not much fun. Some things I don't understand like how many people are going to know the ranks on the uniforms of Russian Army or even care? How many in the US are going to play a game in which nobody in the game speaks English? What tactical advantage can I get from watching trees blowing in the wind or is this just eye candy? Some of the things I'd hope to see in the game didn't make it, oh well maybe the next version. New features, a lot of these are hidden under the covers, I even read the new features list three times, and still not sure of what make of the new arty rules, temp data and some other stuff. Right now for me CMBB is a wait and see, the games not released yet but, the bad thing here is the attitude on this forum, yes the same questions are asked again and again, but far to often when someone says something you get a negative response you don't know what your talking about or go back playing Doom. I wonder how many others don't post here because of this. Even the BTS staff that use to be friendly and help full, are at times being very negative and defensive. I hope somebody does something before the treads do fall off.
  20. First I don't want a WWII FPS or RTS game, I hated commandos (puzzle game) and found the Sudden Strike demo a joke. Even G.I Combat is being marketed as a strategy game and not a war game, maybe (x-atomic programers) still can't get tanks to drive straight. The only games I've played this year are Uncommon Valor, CM, and Squad Battles, and TOAW. Ammo Tracking I want CM to be more realistic. I find all infantry weapons and tank MG's having the same amount of ammo to be very unrealistic. Editor I would like to create infantry squads that have only rifles. I find it unrealistic that every infantry squad in CM has one or more LMG's and unlimited supply of grenades. The weight model was just some way to prevent you giving a Infantry squad 10 heavy MG's. Maybe edit tanks to simulate battle damage, with systems like MG's, radio not working or engine damage. I would like to have the ability to edit more then just the color of something, without doing anything that would unbalance the game. Damage Model Where tanks could have MG's, radios, optics, are knocked out during combat or take engine damage that would limit speed. New Mission Types I think it would be fun to have an infantry company to not only assault a bridge or supply dump but, have the ability to blow it up! I think this is realistic and not DOOM like!. Expansion Pack I think what some of us (non East Front Fans) are saying is we (ok - me) would have been just as happy if an expansion pack was offered that added new units, graphics to the existing CM. There are still many vehicles that never made it in the original CM and there was talk about an expansion pack by BTS before the release of CMBO. I'm still enjoying CMBO but, I'm just not a big fan of the East Front. Is ammo tracking, a more detailed damaged model, and more editing ability or new mission types too gammie? The question still unanswer is does the demo show us the best or all that's new in CMBB?
  21. Question: Does the Demo live up to two years of hype? For you beta testers, do you think the demo does a good job of showing off the best of what's new in CMBB? I was wishing for Infantry Editor I wish this version had an Infantry Editor, where I could create custom infantry sqds and arm them the way I want with weapon limits based on weight per man. I would like to be able to edit more than just the color of something. Trains I wish the game had trains. Damage Model I still would like a damage model for tanks with damage to include secondary systems like MG's, optics, radios, engine etc. Ammo Tracking Better Ammo model with tracking of ammo for each weapon, where you could run out of ammo for long range weapons. New Mission Types New mission types, where you have to defend/blow up ammo/fuel dumps, bridges, airfields, supply convys, rail yards with trains etc. Search mission where you have to rescue or eliminate a specific unit on the map. Something more than just attack/defend. Detailed End of Battle report Show us who shoot who, special notice for units who did the impossible. Not being a big fan of the east front, I would have settled for an add-on for CMBO with new weapons, units, and improved graphics. Maybe the next version (3yrs++ ?) will have some of these features.
  22. I found that micomanagement, is the key, move up two squad (advance to contact)then keep the two shooting, while I move up the next two squads. I found they if I didn't give specific target (shoot orders) to each squad they hardly ever fired on their own. Using this method I'v won all of the battles with the Russians.
  23. What's with the rear machinegun? Was is tank designed by a political officer? Only the Russians would design a tank that could shoot while running away or was this used to shoot fellow Russians running away?
  24. I've enjoyed CM but, I'm not a big fan of the eastern front, so I was eager to try out the demo. First, I like to way contacts can appear and disappear sometimes right under your unit's nose. I think infantry behave more realistically then before, and like the new terrain types. There are still many things I haven't figured out yet, like cover arcs, and what if any use is all that temperature data. CMBB - things I don't understand. I don't know how CM can be so detailed in some areas and yet seem to lack them in others.Vehicle secondary weapons seem to have less detail Machineguns all have the same amount of ammo. The age old steel panthers still seems to show more detail to weapons then CM. Secondary weapons still can't be damaged like they can in SP. Infantry weapons all have the same ammo amount and the info screen still can't tell use how many grenades a squad has yet, it shows a picture of them on the unit screen. This makes little or no sense to me, all MG's, rifles, pistols, use the same ammo and fire at the same ranges?? Wouldn't be more realistic to have infantry to use up their long range weapon ammo first and to some how show this? Optics - with all the talk of optics, I don't understand why vehicles or their main weapons don't have some type of optics rating, I didn't see any in the info screen. The only think I've seen in the demo relating to optics is Russian mortar squads having binoculars go figure! Question - for you beta testers How much of the new features are really shown in this demo? What's up with that! showing the shoulder of the unit leader vs. his face? Where are the female Russian Snipers?
