  1. Question: What type of system was the game played on? Are we all going to need new systems or video cards to play this? How long does it take to process a turn? Same as CMBO or a lot longer?

  3. Will CMBB have the ability to save map files independantly of batte or operations? In the current version of CM, once you save a map for a battle you can't re-use it an operation.
  4. Is there any way to use a map from a battle (*.cmb)file for an operation (*.cmc)file? I download a battle called 3 Bridges and would like to use the map for an operation. Will the next version of CM allow you to save/import maps as files that could be used for either battle or operations? Thanks

  6. How common was it to for infantry to carry and drop Anti-tank mines in the path of on coming tanks? I'm not talking about mine fields, how were the Higgins mine carried by the 101st used?
  7. The custom/editing would only work for Infantry, changing weapons on vechicles is bad idea. Just like you can edit the number of special weapons (Rifle Grenades, etc.) you would select the valid weapon types from a pull-down box. Each weapon could have a point value, where you would need the minium number of men for each weapon. Example: M1 Grand 1 point 2 Men could have 2 Grands 30 Cal MG 3 point 3 Men could have 1 30 Cal MG 6 Men Squad could have 1 30 Cal MG & 3 M1 Grands Speed of the squad could be based on the largest/slowest weapon, if you created a 6 men squad with 1 30 Cal MG and 3 M1 Grands it move at the speed of a typical 30 Cal MG squad. Keeping the Unit database in Sync for multiplayer could be a problem. I don't know the data format for the weapons and units in the CAB files but,I'm not asking to change any existing unit, just add new ones. If the unit database has 200 infantry units, a new one would have an ID/number beyond 200 and tied to a specific battle or operation so anyone who has the *.cmb/cmc file would also have the new unit(s). Tying the new units to the battle or operation files would make the files larger but eliminate the database issues.
  8. Last year it looked like the 2001 was going to be a great year for wargames (CMBB, Harpoon IV, a new Pac War game from Gary Grigsby). Now it looks like none of these games will see a release this year. The only real surprise was Vietnam Squad Battles and I couldn't help thinking how much better this game would have been using CM's 3D graphics.
  9. Will future releases of CM allow more editing of units? Seeing what the user community have come up with by just changing the color/textures just think would be done with additional levels of editing and customization. Custom Infantry I know BTS's won't open up the unit database, but how about the ability to create your own Infantry units, with the existing editor opened up a little more to allow creation of custom infantry units where you select the number of men, and weapons from the pull down boxes. Yes, I know that keeping the unit database the same for custom missions and multiplayer can be a pain.

  11. Building Architecture In CMW it said BTS is creating a new building architecture and even part of Stalinggrad's sewer system. Yet in CG it said buildings will remian limited to two levels? No Multi-turreted tanks - Boo Weapons Rack for Infantry If a squad has weapons with different ranges rifles, SMG's etc. will there be new orders to only use rifles at ranges > 100M and use both rifles and SMG's at ranges < 100M? Relative spotting per unit sounds good. :cool: Thanks
  12. Thanks Germanboy, too bad, there are a lot of allied vehicles and units I would like to see added to CM1. The expansion pack doesn't have to impact the development of CM2, they could add an additional resource to create a expansion pack while they move on to CM2. I don't have much interest in the east front maybe CM2 will change that. Thanks
  13. Now that the TCP/IP add-on is almost finished I was checking to see if there is any news of CM1 expansion packs. Searching the form has third parties saying BTS has canned any expansion packs? BTS what is the official word? Thanks
  14. CM vs WarGamer AFV List? The list of vechiles shown at http://www.wargamer.com/cm/afv.asp does not match the CM list at http://www.battlefront.com/products/worldwar/cm/index.html All this and for only $37.00 for International Customers(this the price they show!). Gee maybe I should have moved and ordered CM from them (Hee Hee) ! Ok, I belive the CM list but where-o-where are the American and British SP-AAA units in the CM list? PS - Like the WarGammer list I hope you are still planning on a expansion pack for CM1 .   15. Will this be fixed? The +/- keys on my keypad zooms in/out instead of selecting next/previous unit.worked ok with the Beta Demo. If I use the +/- keys on the keyboard it works
  16. I'm having some issues and questions with the Gold Demo. 1.Transparent Buildings not working. (maybe my graphics card? ATI Rage Pro 3D 8MB) Yes I have the latest drrives and DX7. 2. +/- On my keypad zooms in/out instead of selecting next/previous unit (works ok with the Beta Demo and MS-Word). If I use the +/- keys on the keyboard it works ok. 3. Enter Key does not work when trying to select Graphic resolution during the graphics setup. Mouse movement is very jerky,hard to select the resolution I want before the screen changes. 4. What is this? I see some sort of red target circle with black cross hairs near the middle of the map in Valley of Trouble, it looks like a gun site. I'm playing as germans and have no units targeting this area, I have a saved game with this.

Updates - hey all I want is some sort of regular scheduled weekly update that says something like "Nothing new this week" or "Expect some news next week" this way I check this board once a week is see if there is anything new or expected. I don't want to know about specific details. Release date - come on, I don't understand why BTS can't give us a release date of sometime in 2nd quarter, 3rd quarter, etc. I work in the software industry and if I told my customers I don't know when your software will be completed and can't give them a schedule, I'd be fired! When my company buys something the vendors get a PO number and I expect either the product or a deliver date. How long would anyone do business with a company that couldn't provide either? I normally don't buy products that aren't ready. I've learned the hard way about doing business with software companies that promise but can't deliver. But it's only a game right? Good business practices are the same for every business; the companies that don't learn this aren't around long. If BTS doesn't want to hear this any more just let me know and I'll cancel my order.
  18. Speak for yourself, some of us want updates. My money is on the table, if BTS can't give a release date, the lease they can do is provide regular updates (weekly, BI-weekly). Why should BTS give us updates, because they knew they weren't going to make the ship date (they said so on this board) when they accepted orders for CM back in November/December. A lot of funning things can happen with software companies; buy-outs, sell-outs, chapter11, people leaving etc. All I'm asking for is either a release date or regular updates, this way I can decide to hang in there or cancel my order.
  19. No Release date. You can't even get list of what units are in CM yet because they aren't finished. I think you be lucky to see it by the end of summer.
  20. Can we finaly get a list of what units made it in CM? I asked back in January and told the list wasn't final yet. So is the list final yet? It's March already! Armored/Scout Cars, did any of these make it? Daimler M3 M8 - I think I've seen this one M20 Bren Carrier White Scout car Jeeps/Trucks I've seen pictures of open jeeps and trucks in CMHQ, will there be covered jeeps and trucks? US Infantry I know the following are in CM (Engineer,Rifle,Para, Machine gun squads) but, are there any specific squads for Rangers, and/or Armored Infanty Squads (US Sub-machine gun squads?) I don't expect much, I just want everything, that's why you delayed CM right?
  21. In the preview from GamesDomain it said the max map size for battles are 4km x 1.2km and 6km x 3km for operations. Question: Can you create a 2km x 2km map for battles or is the width fixed to 1.2km? Thanks
  22. I've been following the development of CM when it was computer squad leader with Avalon Hill after the first computer ASL failed with Atomic. It wasn't until the release of the beta demo that I became a believer and placed an order. After the release of the demo the forum was filled with requests for new features. The answer to most of these requests was you won't see that in CM because of realism or because of polygons. Now looking at all of the new features added to CM, I have to wonder if the realism is being compromised. You said it yourself the game is so different for the demo. 1. I didn't know the axis used different color tracers so the allied wouldn't be confused who was shooting at them . Yes sometimes you couldn't tell who was shooting at whom with all of the tracers flying back and forth but I thought that was part of the realism and fog of war you were trying to achieve with CM. 2. I now see rubber banding of units, hot key to group units to move together or to shoot together at the same target, is this realistic? Will new players use this feature only to lose when trying to play with Command and Conquer type tactics? 3. Don't all of those new lines drawn all over the map use polygons? Is it realistic to show all of this information, remember the status/report screen debates? There have been a lot of games that have been released half baked over the last year and I appreciate that BTS is not releasing a game before everything is fixed. I think it's a real concerned that maybe CM has been in the oven now a little to long and is in danger of becoming over done. Thanks Frank
  23. I had no problem with the Word Docs or the Pics. I am using Netscape 4.5 and Word 97. I opened the docs for veiwing and then saved them after downloading. Give me your email address and I send them to you if you want.
