ok i got you.. i just assumed that RTS stood for all games where thinking and strategy were traded in for who can click the fastest.

Foobar, I think a Tester would have to say yes or no on that. My belief is that damage to units who where in a building when it is leveled stayed the same.

What they are talking about is a bug in the beta demo (was fixed a long time ago) where you units dissapear if you leave them in a rubble hex. Not the lose of units from the building falling, but healthy units that take damage or are elliminated from just standing in the hex.

First, I want to say thanks for all the replies this post has recieved. There are a lot of good point-counterpoint ideas being thrown around. It has been very informative.
Second: this post wasn't ment to stir up bad feelings towards Taiwan or China, It was just ment as a debate. I could have choosen the situation in India/Pakistian as well. I just choose China/Taiwan for th US angle involved.

Good responses. I brought this topic up because a China dissident told the US that China was going to invade.. They were just looking for an excuse to explaine it to their people. I agree also this is most likely more popaganda to test the waters so to speak, but I found it interesting. I agree that China is in no shape to invade at this point and if they decided they had to would most likely take the small islands, as Fionn suggested. They could then judge the west resolve. Much like Hitler did with his first operations (woohoo! there is a link to CM
) I believe that China will eventualy mount an operation, but will hold off for a couple years until they are in a better position to do so.Just my .02

But as a lot of military buffs are here I thought I'd pose a question and maybe get a decent discussion going to pass the time. With the Taiwan elections comming today and China's verbal threats ( not that I assume war is comming) I was wondering If any of you had thoughts concerning the logistics involved if a skirmish did break out. With the Cold war and the USSR this wasn't as much of a factor, due to NATO's being right at the front. An altercation half a world away would be a little tricky (as we saw in the massive airlift in the Gulf,which wasn't as far).
any Comments?

Did you see the part where they said.. This is first and foremost a game. Strict attention was paye to historical detail but this is a GAME.
Thats not the exact quote but they did put GAME in all capital letters.

The only thing that worries me is the number of units... almost every screen shot I saw looks like the yard outside of a factory, or a loading dock. It looks like there are so many tanks that they can't even move around in some shots. (I keep thinking...one good artillery strike...)

ok a question on tactics.
One thing I've been doing is spliting a squad and having to two halves walk point. (thru woods ect..) this way, if they come upon an ambush or under fire, I learn the enemy position without a lot of risk on my part. At the worst I loose a half-squad, or they route. In the later case they are almost always picked up by the main group comming behind.
My question is this. Does this seem like a good thing to do? or is there a better way to get the same results?

This is in response to Username. BTS can second this.
There seems to be the mis-information that those of us that have pre-ordered have pre-paid. This is not the case. Pre-ordering is just a way to show support(I believe), and try to get the product faster. BTS has not charged anyody who has pre-ordered yet. They are waiting until the game goes gold.
Did I leave anything out?

Well... Half standing buildings will not be in. Due to Code, the way textures are mapped, ect.. But yes abandoned tanks, trucks, ect.. will line the streets and fields (if they aren't recovered). So brew them up! Not only good tactics, but adds to the scenery.

I for one look forward to a ladder system. Not for the Goal of being "#1" but as a way to measure how I might stand up to diffrent people. Basically it isn't a positional ranking, but a skill ranking. Just my thoughts
