  1. Thanks, guys. I'm about to head over and start the download. But if any tech gurus have ideas, please feel free! Thanks, Ricky
  2. Hi, I have a newer Acer AM3100 with an Athlon 5600+ processor. 3GB RAM and onboard ATI x1250 with 256mb of memory. I've tried and tried and tried to get my GeForce card to work in this system (from my last system), but it refuses. There is nowhere in the BIOS to disable the onboard video, share video ram, or anything like that. It is very frustrating because as i type this i am looking at the card sitting right in front of me and knowing how much better things would run if I could get it to work. Any advice here? Thanks, Ricky
  3. Hello, all. I downloaded the demo and have stayed up too late a few nights enjoying it quite a bit. My system is so-so, and there's no real chance of upgrading my video card (i have one of those idiotic onboard video cards), so i was a bit wary at first thinking that my system wouldn't come close to handling the game. Well, I was wrong! Anyway, since the demo runs fine, I am assuming that there shouldn't be any difference in the performance of the full game? (obviously, scenario size will make a difference, I know). Thanks, Ricky
  4. I have 1gig and have zero problems with frame rate. Ricky
  5. ::::BLEEEEEEEEPPP!!!!!:::: Holding, 10 yards, repeat first down...
  6. First of all, I'm enjoying the game very much. And it is *hard* which is a good thing. Q: Does victory in a mission always depend simply upon completely annihilating the other side down to the last man, tank, etc.? Thanks, Ricky
  7. It is amazingly, unbelievably unbalanced. The Last Frontier scenario on veteran is much easier to win than the defensive tactics training mission. Ricky
  8. Well said, Smoke. My system, too, is mid-range. Yet it runs the demo very well. And, your assessment is on target, I believe, in that the level of sophistication here is several degrees above the norm. Looking forward to the full game, Ricky
  9. Fwiw, the IGN preview read rather positive to me. Ricky
  10. Some of us are just quiet types, too Preacher
  11. Howdy. I just started the 'Totenkopf' scenario as the Allies. Noticed that my BT-7 tanks are white except for the tracks and the commander (and no, it isn't a winter camo pattern - they are stark white). I'm running a P4 1.7gig, 256meg, Geforce3 Ti200 (DLed the 4403 driver before posting to see if it would fix it - nope), DX8.1. Thanks in advance! Preacher
  12. Eewww. That changes things for sure. Best, then, to avoid random TCP/IP games completely. Definitely needs a fix. Preacher
  13. As a workaround until this is fixed, why not have a gentleman's agreement that the 'host player' will wait to purchase units until he has received an email from the 'client player' describing the terrain, weather, etc.? Until it is fixed, that is... Preacher
  14. Played this one a few nights ago to see what all the fuss is about. Yikes! A tough row to hoe for the Axis. I suffered a major defeat. Looking forward to trying it again. Preacher
  15. And please, BTS, sprinkle more power-ups around the maps. Especially ammo and health. Sorry, couldn't resist. Been that sort of day for me. Preacher
  16. Right. I believe it starts offering at your current desktop resolution then goes down from there. Preacher
  17. Schrullenhaft, et al, Got it fixed. Re-installed my monitor driver (actually, just let XP 're-detect' it) and it picked it up as a specific brand/model rather than a generic. Methinks that did the trick, since i'm now running CMBB in 1280x1024 Now, anyone know where in the US to get a good, inexpensive 19" monitor ?? Thanks, Preacher
  18. Obviously Wal-Mart rounds. They're ALWAYS getting labels mixed up on stuff. Preacher
  19. I'll check on those things when I get home from work today. I know that changing my desktop resolution doesn't change anything. Currently I'm running at 1280x1024 (but CM only gives me 1024x768 or less as a choice). My monitor shows up as 'Plug and Play monitor' if that is what you mean. I'll check the driver version when I get home. Thanks, Preacher
  20. Was fiddling with the QB generator tonight (just got CMBB today and had played 2 games -- first was Pavlov's House in honor of my 3rd son who is named after Jakob Pavlov. Second was a totally random 400 pt QB that ended up with me defending a small village at night with conscript, weakened Germans against a Russian force consisting of many flamethrowing T-26s -- yikes). At any rate...I went to setup another game and the strangest thing happened -- the only parameters I set were the front (Central), year ('43), month (June), and temperature (Hot). The rest was randomized. Guess what the weather turned out to be... ...a BLIZZARD! ??!!??!! Isn't that a bit odd? Preacher [ September 26, 2002, 01:08 AM: Message edited by: Preacher ]
  21. Thanks, Priest (said the Preacher -- ) I'll be looking for him. Preacher
  22. That's not it. My video card allows me to go up to at least 1280x1024. Any other ideas? Thanks, Preacher
  23. Old timer here. Been wanting to ask this Q for a while: In both games I cannot set resolution above 1024x768. Regardless where I set my res on the desktop, the max res it gives me the option for is 1024x768. ?? I have a P4-1.7gig, 256meg, GeForce 3 Ti200 (64meg), WindowsXP... Thanks, Preacher
  24. Read the briefing. It clearly says that the Russian FO is over on the right side of the map. I generally can't find anything in my life (ask my wife), but I was able to find that FO about 3 seconds after the screen loaded because of the info given in the briefing. Preacher
