Let's assume that I went to the doctor today and he informed me that I had a rare terminal disease. In addition, he added that there is only one - albeit strange - cure: to play the CM beta demo this weekend. Question: Would I be a dead man? Sorry...I'm getting silly now... Preacher

Don't sweat it. PiTS is Panthers In the Shadows (Western Front)by HPS Simulations. They make some really good games. Graphics are horrendous and the interface is a bit clunky but the gameplay more than makes up for it (IMHO). Check them out at http://www.hpssims.com. Preacher

Is there a way in CM to move tanks and infantry together? In ASL (i know, this ain't ASL!) you can move a squad (or HS) along with armor in close mutual support (ASL calls this armored assault). With differing mvmt speeds (i assume tanks and infantry move at different speeds), how can this - or something akin to it - be accomplished? Thanks in advance. Preacher

In the fiction realm, War Of The Rats by David Robbins is very good. I generally only go for the non-fiction stuff, but this one was well worth it. He does a great job of pulling you into the famous sniper duel between Vasily Zaitsev and SS Major Heinz Thorvald. Good mix of history and embellishment. (sounds like our public schools...) As for the "real" stuff: 1. Rommel Papers (if you're a N. Afr nut) - Unusually good read for memoirs. 2. A Bridge Too Far - of course. Ryan is great, IMHO. 3. Achtung! Panzer - Guderian's work on armor. Neat stuff. My 2 cents. Preacher

I've been quietly following this game for a while (has it been years??). People try different things to distract them from the frustrations of this interminable wait. I try to ease the pain by forcing myself to only drop in once in a blue moon....Well, it's a blue moon and I'm a little lost as to the status of CM. I hear about a public beta (true? when?) and fall release dates, but have no hard information. Can someone help an ignorant fella? Thanks, Preacher
