My sources say they existed. I would like to hear from the 'experts' on this. It would be really great to see this implemented in CM2. Its a shame when you can only mine wooded areas, for fear of having your 1000 point minefield spotted at 500 meters.. Discuss? 1) Did they exist on the East Front? 2) If so, would this make a considerable tactical impact on CM2, one way or the other? 3) If so, is it likely that BTS might hear our incessant pleas?

Hey capt, your little vignettes are a great service to our community at large. We are so isolated. We are mocked by those around us who dont understand what armor spalling is. We are chastised for not doing dishes. Without the solidarity which is shown in this thread, we are all certainly doomed to a fate much worse than if CM didnt exist. But what if the game exists, but we dont get to play! Oh sure, i bought the damn thing to show my support, but when will I play w/o getting into trouble with the missus? I dont know about you guys, but when CM2 comes out, I plan on logging 18 hours of play on the 1st DAY, not in the first 2 months. Capt, where can i pick up back issues of the bi-monthly lurker?

I built my current system for the purpose of playing CM. My CMBO cd rarely leaves the cd player. Long Live BTS!!

"If only you had known" In a less realistic game, you probably would have known. Thats the great thing about this game, is it gets the sense of chaos in battle to you, more than any other wargame I have played. Have fun, hope your copy arrives soon. Cheers

Great discussion, guys. I noticed that NOONE has addressed weather yet in this discussion. As we are alluding to CM2, you might just end up defending in snowy conditions, (which is GREAT fun) By the time those pathetic attackers hityour first defensive line, they are already winded or tired, and taking fire from unspotted defenders. If they sit still and try to rest, you bring down the arty on them. No rest for the wicked. Its absolutely beautiful. I am in the middle of a 2000 point defense in snow, day, and so far. Just before this, I attacked in the snow, and got my arse handed to me for the reasons cited above. I just dont see the point of people saying "The defender always is disadvantaged" when all people seem to play is clear day battles. You have to mix it up some, and find the balance. Comments?

Excellent idea! As a Magua, and hi-res mod whore, I wouldn't give this 1st draft a "10" rating, but i applaud the efforts, and look forward to seeing more. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I just finished battle #2, and without giving any spoilers, it was the most desperate struggle I have EVER had in Combat Mission. My armor all died within a turn of arriving.. The enemy got 2 of my 8 trucks before I could get them across, but considering I had to do it all w/o any armor I feel pretty good about it. I too got my revenge on the AI, inflicting 4:1 casualties on them as they tried in vain to push me off the bridge.. Good show, fred. Make more of these campaigns.. The roleplaying styled briefings are the best part..

Well, I want to hear from more people who bought it hard in Scenario 1. It will make me feel better. I actually quit, after pushing HARD in a concentrated attack on the left, losing one stug to a Cromwell, and the other to a diabolical artillery barrage.

Enjoying the axis campaign so far.. but I got my arse handed to me pretty bad. How are the rest of you faring on mission 1?

I guess I should have phrased it differently. What I would be interested is seeing the CMBO units for US, German, Polish, British, French, etc BUILT IN to CM2. Forget about CM1, it would be silly to try to patch it somehow. Here's where I am coming from. I dont think I will be "over" CMBO by the time CM2 comes out. If the tactical and interface considerations are too different in CMBO vs CM2, it will make it very hard to enjoy playing both of them at once. Trying to change hats, and think back in CMBO mode, will be very difficult. If CM2 is the improvement I think it will be, I would really like to play Western Front games with the improvements..

OK, This has been discussed before, but lets see if there are any new developments? Will I be able to play West Front battles with CM2? I am not asking anyone to magically make CMBO upgradable to the new standard, BUT How hard would it be to put the West Front Models into CM2? I assume that CM2 will be an improved simulation in many respects, and I would be just giddy if I could play my old Western Front battles with the new and improved.... I play hotseat games almost sometimes. They take much less time than PBEM, but much longer than brushing your teeth. The point values can vary tremendously. Sometimes they are for alot of points, other times they are for hardly any points. Many people debate whether they are fun or not. Some people say we will never know. Hope this helps.
