  1. Stanley Kubrick invented AI that was capable of running a space ship mssion and playing chess at the same time as well as deciding upon and executing a strategy to kill human beings but make it look like an accident AND THAT WAS IN THE 1960'S.

Let's not forget that it could read lips!

  2.

    CMBS module --> sept2017/gen2018

The CMBS module, whenever it arrives, will chronologically happen concurrently with the base game.

If winter and snow were to be added to Black Sea, it would likely be in the form of some sort of non-canon, mod-like optional content, not an extension of the story.

  3. As the designer (in conjunction w/ Chris and several multi-run playtesters) I am looking forward to your video on mission 2.  It served as a bit of a test to see how close to 'right' CMBS gets US Joint fires capability.  Very curious what you and the rest of the community think of it.

Just a note Pnzrldr is actually talking about Mission 3. The mission order was re-arranged a bit after you submitted, Scott.

  4. Just purchased my xx-Battlefront game...

And now... i cannot believe my eyes!! 26h download time!! Battlefront, i'm a loyal customer... but this is driving me mad! I never experienced such a thing. I mean, i'm so hungry to see the game! And now... Sorry, i'm acting like a kid, but i cannot believe it. A torrent would be the answer! Why not? I've read "pirate copies", but: you gave unique serials - so what's the problem?? Uffff!!

Try filing a ticket to the help desk. http://battlefront.mojohelpdesk.com/

Blue button on the upper right corner.

Specify that you are having a download problem and whether you use a PC or Mac. They'll give you a different download link for you to try that should help you.

  5. Crash explosion for micro UAVs needs to be toned down.

More like it should be a "thud" rather than a "boom". :)

It's important to note that UAVs in the game are assumed to be operating at their maximum distance from the battlefield that their optics allow them to, and closer to the ground in most cases. This will stand in direct contrast to the videos you will see from Iraq and Afghanistan where UAV is circling right above the battlefield with practically not a care in the world and well within optimal distances for observation. The UAVs in Black Sea don't have it so easy as they wouldn't last very long operating like that against a well-equipped enemy.

  6. By the way, it's worth mentioning...

There's a much more detailed version of the storyline I wrote in development. 17 pages or so instead of 3. Operational instead of strategic level detail. It was meant for inspiration for campaign and scenario designers, as a framework for scenario designers to create scenarios within. After the game launch craziness subsides, I'll tidy it up a bit and put it on the Repository so that scenario designers can use it as a base for making more campaigns and scenario if they want to stay within the "official story" (not that I actually care if people stay within the official story, hah!).

  7. The very, very early versions of the storyline (before the government change in Ukraine) focused around a new pro-Western government taking hold in Kiev that essentially defies the the Sevastopol lease and causes trouble in Crimea, which inflamed separatist sentiments and started a mess in Crimea and Donbass. Then the rest of the storyline followed from that. After the actual events in Ukraine happened, I modified the beginning of the storyline to account for current events. Other than that, the storyline has essentially stayed as it is.

And as someone said: yep, not a think tank scenario. To try doing something like that would be a waste of my time. ;) The story is there to support the game, not the other way around. Everything supports the needs of Combat Mission's tactical battlefield scope.

  8. Hi,

congratulations to the game! I am not so so a great fan of ultra-modern stuff, but this game is really fun!

I have only a little question to ChrisND:

You  mentioned in one of your pre-release-videos, that you would have liked in-game a second uniform choice for the russians, but couldn't implement it because of the great workload. You said, that this option come eventually with a patch. Will this option really come? *)

Maybe. It's a low priority compared to other tasks we are working on. That's all I can say at the moment.

  10. Hey folks!

I'm going to keep this first post updated with links to handy resources on scenario and map creation. This thread will start small but I'm sure it will grow. Check back here often!

If you have a resource that you want to share, post in this thread with a link and a brief description. I'll add it to the list in this post.

  11. I think it was said previously (maybe in one of ChrisND's streams?) that they adjusted the TacAI behavior to make it less likely, but not impossible, to fire AT weapons at infantry targets.  Although now that I write that, I think it may have been in reference to vehicle-mounted ATGMs rather than infantry weapons.

We also adjusted it down with many infantry AT systems when used against non-vehicle targets. In the early stages of Alpha the infantry and other vehicles used the behavior previously seen in Combat Mission, where they'd fire off pretty much anything they had at targets. The result was infantry dumping their AT weapons against infantry and not having anything useful to fight vehicles with, while IFVs would shoot off their ATGMs at infantry in buildings and then not have them available for attacking vehicles. In Black Sea the chances that you are going to be fighting enemy MBTs, IFVs, or APCs is very, very high, so we wanted to be sure that your units would keep applicable weapon systems for those targets. This solution doesn't work all of the time, but it's definitely better than the old behavior. I want to fine tune it in the future.

  12. I am locking this thread now because it has nowhere to go but downhill, and there is nothing further constructive that will come out of it. The issue has been reported, answered, and the corrective action is being undertaken.

Please see Post #11 for a description of what happened. http://community.battlefront.com/topic/117890-coincidence-or-design/#entry1578116 Thiswas a mistake, not some secret Nazi-sympathetic display. I apologize to anyone offended by it. It will be fixed as soon as possible.
