  1. Amazing news ChrisND ! Do you think if i had to ask whether BFC takes into account the famous beach landings for the upcoming release.. It's a lot to ask for ? Perhaps an intertwined campaign of hell on the beaches and parallel story of the 82nd 101st and others behind enemy lines? If your reply violates any rules or acts as gross spoilers I understand - but if you can tease out.... Just a bit ? I can have a happy weekend :D

There isn't any currently developed or planned content that covers the Normandy landings. Not going to say it won't happen in the future, but it isn't on the radar right now.

  2.

Any hints where and when the scenarios and campaigns are taking place?

Not sure what you are referring to: Bulge or the Battle Pack?

For now, giving away information on the battle pack's content is up to the content creator, if he's willing to share.

    For Bulge:

    October 1944 - Jan 1945

Standalones can take place anywhere in the France/Belgium/Germany region during that time period. Most take place somewhere in the Ardennes.

German campaign covers the more important actions of Kampfgruppe Pieper (think Stavelot, Stoumont, and the areas around there).

American campaign covers the 4th Armored Division's drive north to relieve the Bastogne defenders, Dec 23-26. Core unit will be CCR.

  3. I am really pleased BFC decided to keep the older games current with upgrades and are now looking at updating old campaigns. I asked this in the other thread, but then it got locked, but is the re-do of Shock Force still a possibility?

I'd be wary of calling what I just did an update of KG Engel, at least as far as Upgrades are concerned. All I did was fix some bugs that had cropped up after some recent patches.

The Shock Force update is still tentatively planned, but it's a ways off in the future. Currently it is not on our radar and we are instead occupied with the other projects mentioned in Steve's update post.

  4. I have uploaded an updated version of the KG Engel campaign that was released with the Commonwealth module to the Repository.* It is available for download here:

    http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=3598

The updated campaign (and possibly others) will be included in the upcoming CMBN patch that will deploy alongside the Battle Pack. However, most of the issues were able to be fixed before the patch, so if you don't want to wait you can grab the campaign right now!

    FIXES:

Mission 5, Hunters in the Mist: Weather has been changed from Light Fog to Mist, resulting in a new maximum visibility of approximately 300-500 meters, as opposed to the previous visibility of about 100-200 meters. Briefing text adjusted accordingly.
    - FIXED: Disappearing tanks.
    - FIXED: Alternate version of mission 6 wasn't correctly hooked into campaign structure (it was a rare variant anyways).
    - FIXED: Mission 3: Bazooka firing on the abandoned King Tiger before it could be recovered.

The invisible AT gun bug has been fixed, but the fix will have to wait until the patch is deployed. My experience with it is that the gun will reappear normally after Setup Phase ends.

Thanks for notifying us of these issues so that we could address them. I hope you enjoy the campaign.

    Chris

    * The KG Engel campaign still requires the Commonwealth module installed in order to play it.

EDIT: To be clear, this updated campaign just contains bug fixes. If I need to do the same for other older campaigns, it will also just be bug fixes.

  5.

Hi there, decided to create a new thread concetrating all the bugs I encountered in the Kampfgruppe Engel campaign. I will list in 1 liners all the bugs I already saw reported on the forum.

(I purchased the whole cmbn bundle cmbn + 2 modules, if this matters version wise)

    1.  2 PzKpfw and 1 panther missing in mission 2, didn't loose them in mission 1.

    2.  2 PzKpfw and 1 panther missing in mission 3, didn't loose them in mission 1.

    3.  mission 3: the abandoned king tiger getting whacked\crippled by the bazooka team deployed near it.

Nothing to save by the time I get there unless I savescum.

    4.  maybe a bug: 75mm ATG is not visible when in tow mode, did the germans tow their guns inside the halftracks?

    5. on mission 4, the 75mm ATG dissapears, when I tell it to disembark only the crew is seen. The workaround that is suggested on the forum won't work, since the gun comes with the reinforcement.

    6. Now, to the bug(bug?) that made me ragequit:  mission 4, I have to stop\intercept the canadian armor

coulumns. In the briefing the conditions described: light fog, 800 meters max visibility

what I get is under 400 meters LOS (light blue line) with both infantry and armor (checked in different places, on flat ground, ETC.... But it is getting worse: in practice my infantry and armor spot enemies only 100 meters away. I basically lined up almost all my armor near the exit zones out of frustration and the canadian ghost armor is materializing out of nowhere and popping out AROUND my tanks at distance of under 100 meters........

At this point I gave up on this campaign (Ignoring the bugs, this is the best campaign I tried out of the 4 campaigns of the vanilla and commonwealth)

Thnks for reading the wall of text :)

English is not my native language, sorry for any grammar mistakes.

Hope you fix the bugs, this wonderful campaign deserves to be playable again.

Thanks for the great summary Danny03, I'm checking into all of these for the upcoming CMBN patch.

  6. just realised.

why is there no blood in cmx2?

wouldnt it be a good idea to add it? Gore aswell, gore would be even better

i know , or i guess that x2 engine is limited and all that stuff, but its not something uber crazy

when tiger fires and hits soldiers, there can be 0.2 seconds of nothing and then bam legs and arms go into air or just appear somewhere near

it would add to the atmosphere, now it doesnt need to be gory as hell but still..

and it would be really good bang for back feature

    No.

  7. OK, fair enough. But just for the sake of argument - let's say a mission is on a 4*4 km map and lasts for 3 hours. Wouldn't that border on being more than a tactical engagement? Maybe Piper Cub spotting could just give visual icons, and not used for artillery spotting?

Perhaps, depending on the nature of the engagement itself, and the terrain. But we aren't interested in Combat Mission doing a feature creep into pseudo-operational battle territory, so the focus stays firmly on the tactical setting, regardless of the new map sizes and scenario lengths are. Those scenario parameters were increased because players wanted to the freedom to depict a wider variety of tactical battles, and although some people may take that expansion and try to make an operational battle out of it, it's definitely not what the game is designed to do.

As Wicky says above, you are better off just setting a pre-battle intel for the scenario and explaining in the briefing where the intel came from. WW2 communication nets are not going to often support NRT aerial surveillance anyways for a tactical line unit in combat, if ever.

  8. Hey, it' s a bit off-topic, but who' s responsible at BFC for unlocked files uploaded to the Repository? I uploaded a CMSF scenario almostg a week ago (5 days) and it' s still barred.

    http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=3593

Please unlock it soon. I and others put a lot of work into it and now it would be great if people could download it as long as there still is someone interested in playing CMSF.

I sent a reminder to Steve.

  9. When we've determined that a thread no longer has a chance of being productive and is just going to be an eternal flame war*, we lock it. At that point, keeping it open has no benefit for us or the community. The policy is as simple as that. The alternative is to let it continue to fester to the point where people start getting suspended or banned, something which happens only rarely here.

    * "Flame War" is probably too extreme a term in most cases, since the arguments in this forum rarely get so extreme as ones in many other internet forums.

  10. Hey guys,

We just resolved a glitch that threw out an error screen if people attempted to visit our community forums for about an hour or so. The error screen included an extremely poorly worded message from the IP board software that said "This Account Has Been Suspended".

To be clear none of you were suspended, instead the message was referring to the forum account. We have now resolved this, as you might be able to deduce from being able to read this message in the first place. ;)

    Chris

  11. Gustav Line's successor is not in active development yet, so there isn't enough for a bone or preview yet. The following (quoted from beginning of thread) is still all I can share. That's all I've got.

The current plan is to expand CMFI's timeline all the way to the end of the war with one more module. Along with the usual TO&E and equipment updates, new unit types (such as Gebirgsjäger) and nationalities will be added (think South Africa, French Expeditionary Corps, and the like).
