  1. Not sure how true it is, but a caption in one my Zaloga books states that it was taken just after he had chewed them out for all of the sandbags on the tank, which was against 3rd Army reg. 3rd Army had a policy on not allowing the improvised sandbag armor, since tests had not indicated that it was effective and the extra weight was another strain on vehicle maintenance.

  2. So if and when the Armata is ever introduced to the game, will it be nerfed so that the NATO player can actually hurt it??

If we ever introduce the Armata to the game, it's capabilities will be based on known or highly plausible information, not on wild unverified claims for a relatively unknown, untested system in development.

  3. I was sure I'd read somewhere that CMRT was going to be upgraded to CMx3 and that it was going to be a paid upgrade so I held off my purchase. Is that still on the roadmap?  Or was I mistaken and should I just go ahead and purchase the existing product?

I think there's some confusion with terminology here. Combat Mission: Red Thunder is not going to be upgraded to CMx3. CMx3 would be a whole new game with a brand new engine, like the transition from CMx1 to CMx2. The only major shared similarities would be the basic design philosophy and the title "Combat Mission". Perhaps/probably a new Eastern Front title will be made for CMx3, but that's too far in the uncertain future for me to be making any promises one way or the other.

Now, engine versions of CMx2 are another matter. This is what the Upgrade system does. Fortunately for you, Red Thunder is already CMx2 Engine 3.0, and has been since the start. :D

  4. Quoting Steve from a related thread:

Schrully is, of course, totally correct. Not that I expected any thing other than that  ;)

We have had a few customers run into problems with Windows 10 so far. However, in each case the next beta release fixed the problem. Which is to say, so far, any compatibility issues with Windows 10 have been due to development hiccups with Windows and not with our games. Unfortunately we have no way of knowing what the final state of Windows 10 will be.

  5.

That seems like a feasable option. Out of 37.000 registered members, some must be trustworthy enough to make the moderators. For example sburke, IanL and panzersaurkrauftwerfer have shown to be mature and reasonable, at least as far as i can remember. There are certainly a couple other people who would make good moderators as well.

Normally I would agree with you, but honestly the crowd in this forum is so well behaved that it isn't really necessary to form a cadre of moderators. You guys continue to impress us with the amazingly positive and constructive attitudes. Just compare this place's forum to say, Blizzard forums. Or most other really big game companies. It's brutal in there!  :o

  6. We don't do seasonal sales, and to my knowledge are not planning to do any soon. The only sales you'll typically see are bundle discounts, which are almost always present.

Question answered, thread locked before this devolves into another business strategy flame war.

  7. Believe me, if we weren't already implementing anti-spam measures, a board of this size would be positively flooded in spam. There has an uptick in spam recently (that has been able to get through), so we added some additional measures earlier today, but no amount will stop a spammer from occasionally getting through, short of: A. Appointing a bunch of moderators to boot them the exact minute they show themselves, or B. Making it impossible for people to register.

  8. We've thought of it, but we think the chances of raising the amount of money we'd need is pretty close to zero. We're talking about several hundred thousand Dollars. If we had a massive customer base then a portion of that might be large enough to kick in that sort of money. But we have a relatively small customer base (10s of thousands, not 100s of thousands or millions!) and therefore a portion of that isn't likely large enough to foot the bill. It certainly is a lot to ask of so few people.

    Steve

To add: as I'd mentioned in a CMFI forum post some time ago, these things (like a Kickstarter campaign) are a significant time investment, even if we were using the money to hire other people to do it. That is time not being spent on other things that might potentially benefit more customers. With a team of our size, that's significant.

  9. you got that. not because i think my reply crossed any line or was overtly rude but simply out of respect for your contribution to combat mission. but still i find it annoying when people give those answers to people who are genuinely trying to spark conversation. otherwise whats the point of the bb really? its not really like the manual offers a comprehensive four page report on each vehicle and weapon yoi get a paragraph.

And a simple post of "It's all described in the manual" required a second, unprovoked follow-on post that was aggressive in tone with profanities and insults included? No, you were overreacting. Next time, before you hit submit on a post, please take a breather and ask yourself if it's really adding anything to the conversation.

  10. Hi Chris. Since you seem to be the only one who is still communicating at this forum regarding the future of CM, I would like to ask you to give us an updated 'road ahead' for the coming year or so. Especially some news about the next CMRT module would be very welcome.

Hopefully I can do that soon!
