  6. Jeff...We're here for you man. We'll get you through this. First have a beer or two and some tequila to bring you down some. If you have any Jimi Hendrix in the house put it on NOW. Most importantly remain calm...you'll be fine. You are a loving and caring person and people love and care for you. You are not alone. Remember that you are valuble contributing member of society. And whatever you do, do NOT....I repeat DOT NOT...listen to Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbitt". ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC [This message has been edited by Elvis (edited 03-20-2000).]
  7. Schalken, I have had tons of problems accepting the format that BTS WILL be using. I understand it but have never been happy about it. PBEM would be more fun if with every email you got to plot and watch a movie. BTS has answered your question but I will try to expand upon it. The problem from what I understand with your PBEM system is that because the turns would have the movie part executed on the same computer then the owner of that computer MIGHT have the ability to alter the turn or otherwise mess with the files in a way that I could never come close to doing and thereby change the game to work in his (or her) favor. If one computer was the only computer doing the execution of turns then he (or she) would be the only one to tinker with the game. As I plan to play 99% of my games vs humans via TCP/IP when it is released the bottom line for me is moot. I hope I answered you question. ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  8. It's just this type of cheap taunting that I take exception to. Stop it. It is silly.
  9. Fionn,Matt,Steve and Charles...I understand what the Rousemeister is saying very well. When I was reading the very first Alpha AAR I hung on every word and looked at the screenshots and they they looked a little dorky but the GAME sounds incredible. Then we got the Beta demo and all that stuff that looked dorky before became full of life. It didn't look dorky at all anymore. Then we see screen shots on CMHQ and they look great. They also look like just parts of the game that we haven't seen before but not THAT different. Just different stuff..if you know what I mean. Then I see the POD the other day with the church....It was like...WOW!!! this looks way way way different.Much of the sublty of differences in the PODs can be lost on someone who hasn't seen the game in action. So where you guys have seen the changes and differnt looks and maybe even come to take them for granted in some ways, we don't even fully realize the extent the updates in look or game play....and I am sure despite your efforts (I don't know how you guys find the time to do what you do) we will not understand completely until the game is in our grubby hands. I hope I didn't babble so much that my point was lost. Love, Elvisstillhavesomepissandvinegerinme
  10. SS I have always loved you. I want you to go back and watch the last turn again and think of this while you watch it: You moved your last moving sherman too close to 3 very healthy veteran squads of mine. Watch the movie again and you will see what I did. THe closest squad to your tank I kept where it was. The other 2 squads I ordered to run up to each side of your Sherman. The 1st time I ever saw a Faust shoot in CM was when I ran up to 60m and it fired. This is what I was trying to do on turn 40. You had no one left to protect your Sherman so I figured 1 or 2 of my squads would get close enough to you to get off a faust shot. What happened was you moved your tank CLOSER to my squads. The one I sent to move to your tanks right side you pinned. The one I sent to your tanks left side ran right by your tanks as it moved toward the building my squads were in. The one that stayed behind got a pointblank shot off with a faust and took ya out. It was a play to get a faust shot off on an unprotected tank. And it worked just as I designed it. Where is the luck? Also I never said I was kicking your butt the whole game. I have the conversation at home but if I remember correctly you said you were winning the whole game and I told you I didn't know how you could say that When I had 3 out of 4 victory positions cover since turn 2 AND at turn 35 or 36 I was still at 76% morale. Never did I say I was kicking your butt. Maybe if you hadn't kept your 2 tanks out of play until it was too late you could have softened me up so that when you ran across the open at the end you may have had a chance. As it was I had 4 platoons left at almost full strenght when you made your last minute dash. ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  11. Then Mr. SS and myself stand corrected ( I was really saying it was unwinnable in a sarcastic way to make a point but upon rereading it didn't come out that way).
  12. I just reread my post game conversation with Mr. SS to make sure I had never asked him to "grovel". I didn't (transcript availible upon request SS or anyone for that matter). What I did read was me becoming increasingly agitated by Mr. SSs insistence that I was lucky and he lost most of his units in the final turns due to a mad rush on his part. Yes it was unlucky he had a tank bog down in the middle of the a heavily wooded area. It was unlucky that an entire platoon was lost at about turn 26 or 27 (I'm guessing at the turn but pretty close)from running at me in the woods after being out of ammo without hitting any of my men. I never want "groveling" but what drove be crazy was Mr. SSs insistance that I "got lucky". Mr. SS said the same type of things after the first game we played. "No one can win Reisberg when playing a human" (which I think is true) and more infuriating "you should have won it sooner so really I won the game". Sorry I'm going a little MadMatt over here. That is why I posted the question.I am attempting to retrieve my old emails with my turns to create an AAR.I know I will be able to get at least the last 8-10 turns because they are still in my mailbox. If Mr. SS has access to his post computer crash email he may be able to provide the other side of the movies. Lastly, I never asked him to get down on his knees. It just really under my skin to try to say he lost because of bad luck. If it had been ball busting or just taunting I would have gotten a kick out of it. If I can get this AAR together in the next day or so anyone want it for thier site? ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  13. I hope BTS or Fionn or Matt can answer this for me. I understand that the scoring system for the demo is not a accurate as it should be but I need one of you guys to check out this final display and tell me what it would score in the final version. Please. Axis: 102 casualties (21 KIA) 3 vehicles knocked out Men OK: 152 Score:62 Allies: 201 casualties (56 KIA) 4 captured 2 mortors destroyed 4 vehicles knocked out men ok:75 score:27 The gamed called it a Total Axis victory. How would the final version score it?
  14. Breaking FOW with SS some more here. I will send the last turn to anyone who wants to see it to prove that I am not the one exagerating my strength. SURRENDER DOROTHY!!!!! PS. last turn I was at 72% down from 76%
  15. No offense Berli but I prefer to keep this one alive. That way we can always be reminded that SS_bedwetter is not only a slacker (much improved since this thread started). But also seriously delusional. Perhaps he learned from this thread that his poor email habits could be changed and now he will learn to better analize his situation on a battlefield.
  16. Short note to you SS_soontobedead. Do you remember losing an entire (as you said-out of ammo) platoon? And I have seen what is left of another platoon. Not much left in the gas tank my friend. That beat up platoon (squads with 2 men, 4 men ect..) must be completely out of ammomo (although I never saw the dead platoon fire a shot).
  17. SS_bootlicker I tried to be nice and tell you this in a private email but you laughed it off. I about to comit a SERIOUS breach of FOW in our game. We are playing CE. I as the Germans. I just finished watching turn 33 and I am at 76% morale!!!!!!!!!!!!SEVENTY-SIX%!!!!!!!.TURN 33!!!!!! So "trying to salvage enough of a force to hold on through the last stretch" is hardly an accurate description of the status of our game. Knowing this fact and looking at how you describe your situation in other games I can come to no other conclusion than you suck at CM.
  18. Any thing that lying Lizard Goanna is about to say my possible "gamey" tactics is untrue. Did one of my crews run what would appear to the untrained eye as a recon move into a building suspected to be infested with Germnas? Yes. For the record they thought it was the mess hall and were quite suprised to Germans. They were the ones hiding not my guys. Goanna you have no one to blame but yourself. If you weren't hiding my crew would have know it was the German mess hall not the American mess hall and would NEVER have gone in. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  19. I can vouch for the fact that Peng is a POD. Not a very good one mind you but a POD nonetheless. A quailty POD for instance would prefer a regular chocolate cheese cake to a dark chocolate version. Also, my experience with PODs is that they like thier PODETTEs to not be potty trained. As evidence I give you the fact that Peng is an unpotty trained POD who wallows in his own excrement and seems to enjoy it.
  20. I have a couple of things in mind....Assuming 40+ scenerios in the final release...Peng and I have already agreed to keep 20 of these untouched except for games aginst each other (the sooner we can play TCP/IP the better). The others will be played vs the AI or soon to be suffering PBEM players.....as far as designing goes I would like to create a game where SS_kissmybutt has his little Panzer and I have about 40..or 50 Shermans and wipe him out in the first 20 seconds because that is all of my time he deserves. ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  21. THE NERVE OF YOU!!!!SS you sorry excuse for vermin. How dare you!!!Quite frankly I don't know how you can do anything but beg forgiveness from Us. You need not even send the last turn back to me as I have already written you off of my PBEM list. I humilitated you in the 1st game we played and was spanking you like a red headed stepchild in the the 2nd. It is no longer even interesting to play you. You sir are on the lowest rung of the food chain.
  22. That's just the way it is designed. It is set up that way to eliminate cheating. Personaly I have never been sold on the format because I have never felt like I have been playing a cheater in any PBEM game I've ever played and I would like a movie AND orders phase with each email I receive but I am not gonna buck the system at this point.
  23. Tom to my knowledge Goanna has never beaten anybody. And certainly not me. If anyone is interested about his style of play I would have to describe it as a cross between Winona Ryder and Rosie O'Donnell (not bad looking but untimatly a weak little pumpkinheaded waste of space). I wish I had done an AAR with my game against Berli. It has been the closest game I have played and also a game that forced me to think on my toes and make fast adjustments off of my orignal plan. He is truely a worthy opponant. But alas he (as he now knows himself)is listening a death rattle that is nearly deafening.
