David, I try to send turns at leasst twice a day..before I go to work and when I get home..sometimes more. Despite the fact that most of the people I am playing are almost as slow as Peng with the file turn around time thing I currently have so many games going that I am late for work each day. I expect a surrender files from Seanachithery, chrisl, MarkIV, Goanna, Mace and others any minute now. Once I have ended one of these games I will coomand you to send a set up file. Why does Mace continue to post here when he has owed me a file for days. For anyone who cares (I assume no one) here are a couple updates. I start with chrisl because we are playing a real humdinger. I think I have hand on him but it is the kind of game that can change at any momment. Mark47 and I are playing a bit of rune evilness that looks like he has no idea of what he is doing. Proving to me what I have believed all along that he is a waterhead with no skill or creativity. Seanachhhhiosdgsknagg, hedgerows aren't his bag baby. Joanna is once agin sending fine green men to their death. That should appear on your tombstone man "at least I killed a lot of Germans" (he is the German player in our game). No one else I'm playing has sent me turns recently enough to rememeber what the hell is going on. OK, boring and weak taunts but whatever. Contrary to my self promoting personality the bottom line for me is "was it a fun game?". Currently I am playing 2 games that are very interesting and fun and although I would like to win them I will feel satisfied even if I lose (chrisl and MarkIV). And Germanboy I am not defending that bastard Meeks/Hamster but in the games I have played him he hasn't been gamey to my knowledge and actually the best CM opponant I have played since Fionn. The little piece of dog crap has my number. tss, thank you for trying to offer an answer as to why one should number the turns. However, I have about 10 gigs left on my hard drive so space isn't a problem and if it was the last thing I would want is to clog things up even more my keeping mulitple files in my PBEM file so that the one out of 500 times a file is corrupt I don't have to download the email again. Taking your point even further..if you are limited for drive space keep the "safety" back up file on your email's server will save you even more space. MarkIV is right I do oppose the numbering system. The example I gave for file name was kind of a joke. What really happens is you might name it "elvismarkiv" or "pengelvis" something like that. This way you know who it is you are playing. Aside from writing an AAR I have still not heard any reason to do anthing other than use the system the way it was designed. It defaults to save the file with the same name that it was opened with...why change it? If the file turns out to be a movie you want to save to watch again then just download the email again and rename it. But the number of times I've gone back and watched a movie file is almost zero. I'm not trying to get in a pissing contest here because I will continue to do whatever I want but...if someone can tell me a good reason for numbering your turns besides cluttering up you PBEM folder I am willing to listen. ------------------ "When they finally put you in the ground..I'll stand on your grave and tramp the dirt down" Elvis Costello

wilhammer and croda have got it down. Unless you are planning to write an AAR I can think of no good reason to number files. It only clutters things up. When you begin a game call it something (like "elvisiskickingmark4sbutt" or something). When the person sends you back the file with the same name you download it by overwriting the intial file. If some loses track of who owes who a turn go open the file. If you are Allied and it is asking you for the Axis password then you can send it and say "this is the last file I have for you". If it asks for the Allied password then enter it and send the file. It could not be easier than that. Many of the hammerheads I'm playing like to number...I usually just send them back the number they sent me. I completely miss the point of numbering turns and especially noting whether it is a movie or plot email...hell you can tell that from the file size if you don't remember what you did before you sent the file. I spent a half hour today cleaning my PBEM file of all the old numbered turns. It's more of a pain than it is worth. Congradulations on doing the right thing and ponying up the cashish for the game. In answer to your questions, 1) No. There is nothing I found out later that I wish I had known before installing the game. 2) If I understand the question correctly then I would answer it by saying to start off with the smaller games. You might get yourself lost in the big ones. Which brings me to ..... 3) The game is extremely easy to play. What takes time is playing well. The mechanics, as you have probably seen in the demo, are very simple. Lorak, Please let the record show that once again Peng has been felled by Elvis. By the score of 81-19 I have defeated him in another TCP/IP game. Comments of me not being creative can be put to rest with this one. I have always felt creativity has been my strong point and I have proven it in this game.
