  1. Hoopenfaust 101, Could you or another Mac user summarize that thread into a single paragraph or so? I'm afraid to do so since I don't have a Mac to compare it to during translation and wouldn't want to mis-translate something. If someone could do so, I'd be more than happy to include that text in the documentation for each CMMOS mod. (at least until the Mac version of CMMOS come out). Gordon
  2. Panzerman, Sorry, I'm not a Mac user, but I was told once that writing an AppleScript to do so would be pretty easy. If you or anyone else figures out how to do so, let me know and I'll try to incorporate it into the mod documentation some how. Manx, Ok, I understand the multi-add/multi-remove concept, and considered adding it as part of the original CMMOS v4.00 development, but was concerned that processing bunches of mods in sequence would be too much.   3. You're all welcome. MrSpkr's bug is caused by trying to reduce the little thumbnail vehicle profile images which are odd-sized. I've made the fix and it will be in the next update. Manx, I've already been asked to add a add/remove multiple mods/rule-sets simultaneously feature, but I'm not sure that's exactly what you're asking for. What confuses me about your request is the "we can have different folders containing different setups" statement. The point of CMMOS is that you add the mods once and then apply different options over time. Please elaborate on why you'd want to wipe out all the mods and load a different set. Thanks, Gordon
  4. ianc, You'll want the new configuration files for some of the new mods (and others that are in the pipeline), the bug fixes and I think that the new help system and rule-set formatting features are worth upgrading for. You should be able to install v4.01 on top of v4.00 without distubring any of your already installed mods and rule-sets. Gordon

  6. Feel free to release your mods in any format and on any site you choose (after all, they're your mods). I would like to have all CMMOS mods available on CM:HQ simply so that there's always one place that people know they can go to find any/all CMMOS mods. Gordon
  7. Well, one can make CMMOS mods even if you are a Mac user, you just need a windows player to test them for you. Installation of CMMOS is not required in order to create CMMOS mods. Any Mac modder who'd like to create CMMOS versions of their mods can contact me and I can send them a copy of the "how to" manual and help them out. Hopefully, there will be a Mac version of CMMOS in the not to extremely distant future. Gordon
  8. Rule-sets are what configure the different Tabs that hold the Icons that represent the different mod options. You can download rule-sets en masse or individually as you need them. CMBO rule-sets come grouped into self-installable packages located on the CM:HQ CMBO CMMOS page and CMBB rule-sets come individually packaged for installation by CMMOS on each CM:HQ CMBB CMMOS page. The current dirty tracks mod doesn't display an Icon because it is applied "automagically" whenever a DS or Svinarnik tank mod is applied (unless the mod, like many of MrNoobie's provides its own track version). The new version which will be released soon allows selection between the original set of dirty tracks and Gautrek's dirty tracks, so an Icon will appear in both of the DS tabs and the Svinarnik tab. Well, I'm currently crawling out from under the initial CMMOS v4.00 installation issues and am finalizing CMMOS v4.01 (to address the problems discovered), as well as being inundated with the rush of conversions of existing mods to CMMOS as well as new CMMOS mods. Paddington, The executable naming problem is because the BFC version (which is what all of my testers have) and the CDV version have different names for the CMBB executable ("Barbarossa to Berlin.exe" for the BFC version and "CombatMission2.exe" for the CDV version). A patch for this an a couple of other issues will be coming shortly. Schoerner, CMMOS is supposed to handle the case where you've put the mod ZIP into the CMMOS mods folder before you install it. There may be some differences in how different versions of Windows handle file and record locking. You can e-mail me (gordonemolek@poboxes.com) a description of the problem your having (please be as specific about the actions that you are taking as possible), a copy of the file CMMOSLog.txt from you CMMOS install folder and we'll get you squared away. You can also look at User_Readme.rtf (also in your CMMOS install folder) which has pretty detailed instruction on how to use CMMOS. Gordon

Actually, having the patch installed will improve some of the mods (like the winter vehicles) because the mods were created for the 1.01 patch and therefore already have the new vehicles modded. The only possible down-side is that CMMOS backups up the BFC textures only the very first time a CMMOS mod is applied to the particular BMP. So, if a BFC texture was "improved" (not new) in the patch, then when you restore to the BFC textures you'll restore the version 1.00 BMP, not the 1.01 BMP. I doubt this will be a significant issue, however. Gordon
  18. Lane, Do you by any chance have the CDV version of CMBB? If so, either create a shortcut to "CombatMission2.exe" named "Barbarossa to Berlin.exe" or rename "CombatMission2.exe" to "Barbarossa to Berlin.exe" (please note the spaces embedded in the name and don't accidentally create a shortcut or name the file "Barbarossa to Berlin.exe.exe"). If that doesn't clear things up, please e-mail a copy of the file "CMMOSLog.txt" (located in the CMMOS install folder) to me at "gordonemolek@poboxes.com". Gordon
  19. Yes, the only problem would be that if your re-ran the German dunkelgrau whitewash rule you'd lose panzermartin's Pz 38(t) (until you manually reinstalled his). We are working with panzermartin to covert his mods to CMMOS, so this will only be a temporary issue. Gordon
  20. ianc, CMMOS performs backups of all the "original BFC" textures. Since there were no original BFC winter vehicle textures, those files are not backed up. Now, if you happen to have a non-CMMOS mod installed when you first apply a CMMOS mod for that vehicle, the current mod will be backed up as if it were the original BFC texture. Follow me? I never imagined that people would put files in the CMMOS "private" temp folder, and to make sure that I don't waste space unnecessarily, CMMOS periodically wipes out everything in it. Please don't put anything in that folder. You can install mods and rule-sets from anywhere on your system (including a network mapped drive, or a CD-ROM). Gordon

Steiner, Well, you could certainly take the existing BMPs and rename them and package them up for use with CMMOS as described in the User_Readme and ModMakerReadme documents that come with CMMOS. However, you'd either need to make them "house" rules (also described in the documentation) or you'd have to duplicate the rules that are packaged with the new CMMOS mods. You might contact MrNoobie or Old Dog to see if you could get copies of the rules. I'd recommend downloading the CMMOS versions, maybe during a football game, or overnight. I definitely sympathise with you as until recently I was stuck with 56K dialup and had to UPLOAD every mod I made (which is even slower than downloading). Gordon
  23. One of the important new features of CMMOS v4.00 is that you no longer manually unpack mods and rule-sets, but that you install them using CMMOS itself. Download a rule-set zip, run CMMOS, press the "Configure" button, select the "rule-sets" tab, press the Add button and location the rule-set zip. Please see the file User_Readme.rtf that is in CMMOS' install folder or see the following thread: Step-by-step instructions
  24. Speedbump, It depends. If a mod is published for an existing rule-set, Svinarnik, for example, the rule (Icon) that allows you to select the options for that mod can be packaged within the mod ZIP itself. New rule-sets (e.g. Buildings) will first need a rule-set package (which is actually very simple) and that will be kept separate from the mods. I hope to have all CMMOS rule-sets and mods available on CM:HQ (as a one-stop shop for CMMOS), but there's nothing preventing CMMOS mods from also being hosted elsewhere. Gordon
