  1. Ken, I've mailed you about this but - have you tried it with CMAK?
  2. COngratulations. Wife & daughter doing fine - how's the dad? Mine's 7 months old. Every day is work and every day is a new joy. My best to your family.
  3. the_enigma - i think you owe me "Across Moltke Bridge" possibly? As much started as I can. Heavy Drop has yet to send me "Wet Triangle" but we're in communication & I'm sure it'll be here soon. I've yet to send out "Push to Maleme" to Stoneage but I've mailed him with reason, will be done tonight/tomorrow. Highlanders & St Edouards are out.
  4. All the email addresses can be found here. I was only joking about the Axis going first. Maybe I should have said "Is there any historic precedent for this".
  5. The Axis go first? Is there any precedent for this?
  6. Mailed all in group 6. Seem a decent bunch. See ya in the trenches.
  7. Thinking again, I've never tried to do it. Maybe I will with a few games I have going & see what happens - I might love the decisions it forces on you. Harumph.
  8. Kind of sums it up for me. The thing is though, the wholesale splitting of squads *does* seem to offer a great advantage. Great enough to force you to do the same. And IMHO that adds to the workload of making a turn without adding any to the fun. So I guess as the tediousness is real, so is my objection.
  9. I was thinking a giant blancmange but either answer given here is good.
  10. Why would you swap a Lee Enfield for a Kar? Besides the question of which was the better weapon you'd have not trained on the Kar & wouldn't hit a damn thing. I'd for the Galactic Empire too. Damn Ewoks     .
  11. To ignore the really saddening RL stuff - why don't TC's pop-up in 10 sec segments? That would seem more natural to me. I'd pop-up, get SA & duck. I would imagine IRL would be the same.
  12. Is that the tank you whittled out of soap to try to get yourself out of prison or summfink?
  13. Surprised no-one has said this yet but Yoga & Palates are excellent for stretching & strengthening your back and core muscles. The only downside is having to exercise around a lot of sweaty, Lycra clad women. Actually, the real downside is listening to a lot of tripe about "Feel the power of the Earth making your shake." While you're thinking "Oxygen debt.". But you can ignore that while you're trying to avoid staring.
  14. No we are NOT there yet and if you ask once more, they're going to turn this development effort round and go back to CMBO. Is that what you want? Because I'm telling you they're THIS close to doing it.
  15. I had a bad knee injury for about 10 years before pulling myself together & getting it sorted, in that time my whole balance went off & my back started to twist as I was favoring the leg. I went to a normal chiro who cracked various things and it felt good for a little while but in the end it'd always come back. So I paid £40 for my first visit to the McTimony guy (£25 after the first appointment) and he felt all over my back before tapping me in various places. I thought I was down £40 for nowt but he said to go home & lie down as there were a lot of toxins released into my system from muscles which had been tense for years. About 40mins later I felt sick as a dog. After that I could actually feel my gait change. It took a couple of months but he changed my whole way of walking. There was no pain, there was no cracking, he just tapped various places in my back and hips. So I'm in full agreement with Sodball. /goes to wash/
  16. I've had great luck with the Archer. Of course, I was playing Axis at the time.
  17. I think what Steve is saying is that if you place a movement order inside a house, because that house is built from a template and so is the squad, there will be pre-prepared positions inside the house where each squad member will go to. Similarly if you tell them to 'advance' over a certain terrain type, there will be a pre-chosen animation for "squad of type X performing advance over terrain of type Y". By using these pre-determined routines BFC can ensure that optimal placement and movement of your squad members. If they plan to do it without various members teleporting around when changing state it's going to be a hell of a lot of work. Personally I wouldn't bother. But I think it'd look good enough and ensure that the 3 guys left in the street scenario doesn't happen. So you will only be able to fit 1 platoon inside a normal house. If BFC make it so 2 50% depleted platoons can fit inside a house then well done to them. Again a lot of work.
  18. vs ai scenario as vs ai qb aq vs human pbem scenario hps etc etc. Work with geeks for a while & this stuff be becomes second nature. My result: hpq.
  19. So a couple of divisions of modern era armour are pushing towards your capital - what do you do? Well to a large part you ignore it. What's it going to do? You can't hold ground with a couple of divisions of armour. Some would be taken out by mines, some would be hit by over the horizon arty, some would break down. And when it does what's going to fix it while under sniper fire and/or an arty strike. 500lb bombs would blow the tracks off anything, rivers would stop them. The crews have to eat. To use any weapon apart from guerillas you need a massive support tail. That is vulnerable and longer for modern weapons. It's a nice image having Abrams/C2/L2 etc winning WWII but only in comics. That sounds worse than I want it to - it's fun to imagine these things but they wouldn't work in the real world.
  20. Hey thanks a lot. Us cheapskates should stick together.
  21. I've tabbed to an enemies moving jeep. It disappeared but I carried on moving, still padlocked to it. A purely coincidental arty strike hit there minutes later.
  22. How's it with MS stuff, i.e. Word & Visio? I've never really taken to Open Office but I'd like to move my laptop to Mandrake.
  23. The last thing I would want is the kind of juggling you had to do with squads in C&C. I well remember sending them from one room to another trying to bubble sort the squad members to get the most useful in a firing position. So yes, 1:1 representation needn't mean detailed animation of each character but it would be cool and I think cool sells games, which is what BFC is ultimatly about.
  24. I'm more interested in seeming them take available cover. If BFC can pull that off it'll look amazing. Seeing where casualties were actually taken will improve gameplay a lot IMHO. One issue is what will happen when you zoom the scale? Will they 1:1 continue or will they coalesce into squads & then into platoons? I think that would be the best idea with the squad being represented by a corporal & a squad by a sergeant. All the rest of the possible animation doesn't really mean much to me but yes, it'd be nice.
