Bazooka and Panzerschreck Accuracy

Recommended Posts

I've been playing 1-2 multiplayer games a day since release and I don't know if it's just bad luck, but I've seen Bazookas and Schreck's miss stationary tanks at 100-150 meter range quite frequently. This is using highly motivated veteran schreck teams that are unsurpressed and not spotted by the enemy.

In my games so far I've only run into 3 kills by a zook/schreck team (again, all multiplayer). What have your experiences been?

I miss the % chance to hit indicator from CM1.

I've seen both hits and misses at goodly ranges for Schrecks. I've seen some Fausts hit and some miss. So I think it's just a bit of bad luck.

I don't miss the Hit% at all, it only gave me a towering rage whenever my guys managed to stuff up an 80% hit chance. At least here I am more accepting of the misses.

Although when you spend 4 turns crawling your Faust team to within 30m of that immobilised Sherman ...and then they hit the only tree between it and them ... Grrr. If the tank hadn't killed them, I might have ;)

I'd be alright with the chance to hit displayed as long as it is something that can be toggled on or off. If not, I'd rather not see it to be honest. You'll have to ballpark it just like they did in real life. If you're really close then odds should be good, if you're really far away...wellllll. :P

I load every squad and driver and ammo crew and scout team and sniper up with bazookas. I also add a couple of bazooka teams to each company. I figure they are like flares letting me know where the front line is. The rarely seem to hit anything, but the constant "shhupsppooonssh" sounds and tremendous arcing trajectories let me know the enemy is out there. I find them more noticible than rifle grenades due to the sound and usually higher arcs. Also since the infantry is going to shoot, they might as well shoot something that might make the enemy back up a bit.

I have been using Bazookas with great deal of effect. Especially against Bunkers. but I rarely fire above 50m away, and so far 4 out of 5 rounds hit their mark.

A normal reflection is that the enemy panzerschreek/bazooka are to accurat and your own cant hit the wide side of a barn :D

I'm entirely sanguine about infantry AT with regards to its effects on armour enemy rockets haven't accounted for any of my armour losses yet, cos I'm reeeeeeely careful (probably too careful) to keep my tanks and ACs more than 200m away from anywhere I think there might be rockets and LOS... Enemy "Tube Guys" always seem to have better luck wreaking dismay and carnage amongst my dogfaces and sossidj eeters, though, than mine do in return.

Here is the data on the Panzerscherk

http://www.lonesentry.com/manuals/tme30/ch7sec2sub7.html

And the bazooka

http://www.lonesentry.com/manuals/bazooka/index.html

I note that for the Bazooka you should not fire it if the ambient tempaature is above 120 Degrees F (48 Degrees C) and that:

"Prior to Firing. Run a clean dry wiping cloth through the barrel until, by the appearance of the cloth, it is indicated that the film of oil has been removed from the bore."

As the Panther is closing on your postion..........

I'd never use either over 100m, period. 50-75m best.

Under 100m, chance of hit actuallty gets interesting.

Yeah, pain in the a$$, but hitting is better than missing. Why waste rounds? Or get the team waxed?

Also, try to setup volley fire if at all possible.

I was anti-armor specialist in my inf squad with 24th ID in the 80's. Trained on the Dragon, but LAW's (later AT4) were the standard fare for everyone.

Ideally, 3+ LAW (later AT4) per target was best case scenario. The intention was to crossfire 2ea Dragon shots per target, but never actually implemented (no action). Only had 1 live fire on Dragon (kinda expensive rounds).

3+ shots not possible often w. zooks/shrecks, but I'd try at least 2ea per target if over 100m.

But, as stated, you'll get MUCH better results under 100m. If 2ea per target under 100m, you will probably kill stuff real good.

Yeah, not the answer you wanted, but it may help get results.

My best results with bazookas so far was close in - 30 yds or so and from the sides or rear of the enemy AFV. Obviously, getting into that position is the killer...literally. Placement of these AT teams is critical, as is control of their fire arcs and range. Maneuvering one into position once the engagement is on, is really difficult and in a defensive situation, you just have to plan out good ambush sites ahead of time. Movement is your enemy since the armor tends to see moving infantry much quicker. In the offensive, keep your teams close by for good C2 and with a close all around fire arc so they don't go off lobbing rounds into the blue when you least want or expect it.
