It's the Little Details...

Recommended Posts

..that make this game great. So how about a cool little details thread?

I'll start - and I found this out by benchmarking a saved game and running the next turn over and over again while locked on a Sherman:

The Sherman was unbuttoned and when hit w/ small arms the TC would drop down and close the split hatch - so you would expect that. But a couple of times the TC was hit - and he would drop down into the tank and the hatc would remain open - and was closed sometime later (probably by another crewman). Now that's attention to detail.

BTW, I must have played this turn out about 20 times and the variety of outcomes was very gratifying to see;

- Hit/abandon

- Brew ups where no one got out

- Light hit/back-up/pop smoke

- Tank kills enemy and survives

...good stuff!

Nice. Since CMBO days, I have always enjoyed going back after a battle is finished and re-running critical turns to see how the outcome might have been different. It not only gives you a good appreciation for the complexity of the game, but also teaches you when you won because of good tactical choices, and when you were just lucky.

I also found that zooming thru the vehicles you can see an extremly detailed interior... I was like WOW.. had to check out the Shermans for awhile. Also the all the vehicles are just a little randomly different. Even as mentioned before the soldiers can be somewhat different. I zoomed all the way in to look at the fields and noticed different floral arangements, and foilage. In the Tutorial near the crossroads there was some bocage that was almost like a tunnel.... reminded me of the reading I had done about M. Wittmann and the sort of canopy the bocage could sometimes offer the defenders.

This is from another thread, but belongs here too....

That happened to me last night. One rhino appeared to be bogged going through bocage, but wasn't...it was wallowing, so to speak. I reversed and sent it in again and he busted through. God is this ever a well-designed game!!!
