Michael Emrys
Who's got enough string to find out? Michael
Sergei
If the string was elastic, they could be of the same length.
Other Means
If you place all the worms in the Earth end to end, one of them would wriggle and spoil it.
MeatEtr
Ok wrap your heads around this one, infamous double slit experiment. Quantum physics anyone?
costard
Ok wrap your heads around this one, infamous double slit experiment. Quantum physics anyone? If you're interested in getting an understanding, but don't want to wade through a dry textbook, try Feynman's "QED" - a book of his lectures on Quantum Electro-Dynamics to non-physicists. The maths isn't hard and he gets the ideas used in the modeling across very well.

dieseltaylor
The piece of string is a piece of pi22 . I am disappointed in the quality of the answers : )
Michael Emrys
The piece of string is a piece of pi22 . Eh? Are you sure you typed what you meant to type? I for one can't make any sense of it. Michael
dieseltaylor
Well I could hardly type piss? The answer is curiously to do with pi If the string is a metre above the first one then the increase in diameter is 2m, so the string is longer by 2(pie sign)m, i.e. 6.28318m. The circumference of the earth does not come into the equation.

Michael Emrys
Then you haven't been paying proper attention. I included it in a post months ago. Michael
dieseltaylor
! I did not realise you thought people read your posts! I only accidenatlly read your recent one here.
Michael Emrys
I did not realise you thought people read your posts! I assume everyone eagerly, even anxiously, awaits my every pronouncement. At least those who aren't brain dead do. Of course, that leaves us with a depressingly small audience... Michael
Sergei
A considerable proportion of the forumites actually read Michael's posts with a religious fervor. They consider him the Anti Christ, and if they ever learned his home address they'd storm the place armed with pitchforks and torches and unplug his life supporting systems. We can only hope...
Michael Emrys
They consider him the Anti Christ... Tut, tut, you exaggerate. That position was filled by one of our recent presidents. I merely provided the makeup. Michael

However I am not here to be snide about contributors - I let them dig their own holes : ) Now get on over to the climate thread.
dieseltaylor
Whilst waiting I have done a cursory trawl of the posters in two threads and have 65 so far. Astonishingly the most common first name is Marshal! : ) There are more Brits than any other nationality at 11. And two live in Sussex. However thee are 22 displaced people with no country! If you want to keep it a secret but tell me send me an e-mail. I suspect French speaking players use their own sites and are therefore heavily unrecorded at BF. My concerns about being swamped with Total War players is lessened because the average reported age is a lot higher than I thought! Stateless Anklrd Atos Brucaliffo dmcheatw dw Faucon franzVonG Friant General Brock INWC Marshal Beale merkedman MikeyD noxnoctum paswin paullootens RCMP Rusted Gun Smug Spartan vertigus Zaraath One suspects Brock is a Canadian, FranVonG - german, spartan - greek - I think not .... a game for all to play : )
Michael Emrys
US? ............ confirms my suspicion about the schizophrenic ME! Not at all. I am divine. I exist on a plane above mere mortals, a plane that encompasses all existence. Therefore, I can be either "I" or "we" as suits my purpose. Sergei
I exist on a plane above mere mortals Oh, so that's what the disturbing noise downstairs is caused by. I exist two planes above mere mortals and it certainly has gotten worse since you moved in.
dieseltaylor
Nice one sergei : ) What happened to the Peng thread - did they all end up incarcerated with no Internet access? Or where they sent by BF to some Black Hole where they amuse each other endlessly - or do I mean pointlessly?
Michael Emrys
Nice one sergei : ) No it wasn't. He made the fatal error of assuming that because I wrote "a plane" I meant that I only existed on one plane, when the rest of my post clearly implies that I exist on all planes...or at least all the interesting ones. As usual, his Finnish hubris overcame whatever small grain of discretion remains to him. Michael
