How do mount infantry on a transport?

Jake,

usually you just have to click on a unit, press M for move (or any other movement order), move the cursor over a transport (be it a carrier, a truck or a tank). If it says "embark" just left-click again and your troops will start moving towards the transport and will probably mount the next turn (if they are not too far).

However, you have to make sure that that particular type of carrier actually has passenger capabilities (some of them don't). To do so, click on your carrier, press return and read the info in the chart. The last line usually gives information on passenger capabilities.

Happy wargaming!

Bren Gun Carriers - its a team which usefully covers you spotter [with radio], PIAT crew, sniper, 2" mortar, or even a Bren gun! Small and nippy they, and the Universal carrier, can go through barbed wire - unlike halftracks. I have just checked and a Bren carrier will also carry your platoon HQ, or a recon half squad [4 men]. They will not carry the 3" mortar despite it being only 3 men as the ammo is chunky.

Things to watch for are forgetting its already loaded! forgetting to move it amongst all the fun.

A team means up to 6 men.

A vehicle rated to carry a squad will take two teams up to six men, or a single unit of any size plus a two man team

With support weapons, including machine guns, transport class has to be considered. A vehicle can transport any weapon up to and including that number, or two weapons where the sum of the transport numbers is less than or equal to the total transport class of the vehicle.

Transport class is why a Universal Carrier can carry a 3" mortar, while a Bren gun carrier cannot, despite both being able to carry a team.

"or two weapons where the sum of the transport numbers is less than or equal to the total transport class of the vehicle."

Actually this is just a threshold issue, the transport class of everything carried has to be less than or equal to the transport class of the vehicle, individually.

For instance, the transport class of a 50mm mortar is 2, and the maximum transport class allowed riding on a tank deck is 2. You can put 2 50mm mortar teams on 1 tank, not just one...
