Recommended Posts

I've installed the demo in hoper of getting a veiw of what this new game will be like, After purchasing cmbb and being satisfied id hope this would wrong smoothly except the demo says i need to update my openGL driver so i goto nivdia to update it but i need abode reader. So i try and install that. That won't install.... Is there an openGL driver updates that i could get thats not in PDF form?

Uh... OpenGL drivers are included within the drivers for your videocard. They're NOT in a PDF format, which is a portable document format that utilizes PostScript to rasterize a page - it is NOT a video driver.

What Nvidia chip is on your videocard and which Windows version are you running ? You shouldn't need Adobe Acrobat for a driver unless you want to read the RELEASE NOTES (which are NOT the driver). Adobe Acrobat not installing on your computer is another issue you may want to look into.

hm, if you never did that befor and have no clue what this is all about, things can get funny there. but actually you cant really break something. worst thing that can happen is that you dont have any drivers installed than the windows ones, wich isnt fatal too when you have the new ones, so many people worked that out, so you will.

ok, step 1;

go here; http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk

in this drop down menues you select the things corresponding to your system.

if thats done, you hit "search" there and find the newest drivers for your system. you download them and save em somewhere where you will find em again.

step 2;

go to your system propertys, and select "software". in this list you look for "nvidia display drivers".

when you found it, you select it and uninstall them.

after that you will need to reboot the PC

step 3;

you rebooted the PC, the old drivers are gone. now when there comes this windows assistent at start up prompting you to do anything about the "hardware"(your card) it found, just cancel this.

you will have a low resolution and colour dephth at that moment, but its normal. nothing is broken there.

now you navigate to the drivers package you downloaded befor(mostly a .exe NOT a .pdf), and double klick them.

you follow the screen instructions and install the new drivers.

it will need another reboot and than you are finished.

in this whole process you never need acrobat reader or any .pdf. i dont know what you want with this.

if you want to read .pdf files go and get foxit reader, and trash acrobat reader, its junk in my eyes.

ok, go to the start menue, there is something like "execute/ausführen".

like that;

dxdiag_start_ausfuehren.jpg

ausfuehren-cmd-eingabe.jpg

there where it says CMD on the picture you tip in "dxdiag" without " ".

something like that comes up;

2005-12-22-dx2.jpg

there you hit the button, "save all information". you get prompetd to save a text file somewhere on the PC. if oyu did that you open the same, and copy/paste all in here when posting a massage... .

all clear!?

Processor: AMD Athlon Processor, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.2GHz

Memory: 256MB RAM

It looks like your computer is about 5+ years old, and is not capble of operating...umm...anything.

Moreover, you have an ATI card not Nvidia, which is also very old graphics card.

Well for starters go to ATI and do the equivalent to the steps pandur described above. You do not have a nvidia graphics card!

ATI drivers

My old computer's specs are similar to yours and it ran the demo (though at very low settings) although I had a slightly better nvidia card with more memory.

But for gods sake buy a new computer smile.gif . Buying today's 12 months old tech where the price has dropped off will still get you a PC 20x better than that old clunker.

Thinking of getting a Mac because of video makeing atributes How does Your games run on them so far?

If you were going to choose a Mac thats good for gaming which model would you recomend?

Also i got the same replie when i tried donloading th ALI one, Same as Nvidia did not find any compatiable Drivers or Processors

Well if you buy a Mac ensure its one with an Intel chip.

Any of the current iMac will run CM:SF via Bootcamp with pretty good video. Of course if need greater expansion or have a huge screen already then buy a Mac Pro (but I suspect that may cause you budget problems).

That will let you run Windows via Boot Camp (the only relaible way to run CM:SF at present [there are other emulation products, such as Fusion, CrossOver, etc. but they seem to have video compatibility issues, which is what you are trying to avoid smile.gif ] until the Mac version comes out).

Also I'd suggest you buy (if you still can) a copy of Windows XP Pro when you buy the Mac rather than going down the Vista route (people seem to have all sorts of issues with that).

Happy to help if you have any other Mac questions.

Good Luck!

it looks like your current drivers are at a few years old so probably the latest ATI drivers do not support your graphics card anymore. you would need to look for older ones, best would be the latest ones wich still support your card.

It would be so much easyier if PC were like macs closed format but with all the good games, Im caught in the Cross Hairs between Video Design Which i've tooken classes on and can probaly make some $ off or get a pc and pure games. :confused:

~~~~~~~~
When i got my PC customized i made sure to have all the lasteds processors/Graphics cards so it would last me at least 4-8 years, It lasted me 5 things change so quickly :confused:
Well if you go down the path of buying an Intel powered Mac (which all the current ones are) you can have both.
Run it as a Mac when you want to do your video stuff (with Final Cut or whatever) and then boot it as a PC when you want to play games.
I’m afraid that is a constant whether you buy a Mac or a PC. No one knows what things will be like in 5 yrs and if you buy hardware now that is absolutely top of the line, you are paying a premium for equipment that will still become obsolete within 3 - 4 years.
i saw you posting in the "realtime bugs" thread, i totaly missed the question here...
no, i guess its not functional in demo, that would be a game for itself, pretty unbalanced but still.
but i just played the first demo, i dont know the demos of the other versions.
whats wrong with the T-72´s!?
