Battlefront.com
New nVidia 163.69 Drivers released for some systems today and the rest soon. Check them out and see if they help at all. The fix list states that a lot of problems with games have been cleared up, so hopefully that includes us! Xanthos581
Thought I'd let you know that I built a new computer with Vista Home Premium OS and an nVidia 8800GTX and the game seems to run fine. The driver number is 7.15.11.5824 released 4/26.

Xanthos581
It plays as I would expect. No lag, normal framerate, graphics seem normal.
Xanthos581
CMBB does not run right and I experience the same reported problems.

Xanthos581
Vista Home premium. I have tried all settings and it starts to lag when the settings are at high quality. Seems to run fine at improved settings with anti-aliasing on or off and vert syn on or off. It only seems to be a problem when the quality settings are at their highest 2 levels.
peleprodigy
If you are satisfied with the performance you are getting, then by all means don't be swayed by the comments on the board. The issue, however, is that people with 8800 cards can't run some scenarios of this game (Allah's Fist is a popular benchmark it seems) at best/best quality settings. And the common feeling is that if you are packing that type of video processing power, you should be able to with no problem. I actually just got vista premium today, and am planning to install it on my secondary pc, so I will report back my benchmark results.

I am running other new games with graphics maxed out without problems so I guess this game should be the same. Not really a problem for me, though.
peleprodigy
xanthos, i read in an earlier thread that you had a pretty weak laptop to run this game on originally, so you made a pretty good leap forward with regard to gaming capability! hopefully in time the game will catch up with you.
Trooper5
Battlefront should stop blaming nvidia for there problems. Drivers have nothing to do with it. As mentioned in another thread the problem seems to lie in the programming for the simple dirt map. The larger it is the worse it gets, and thats for any 3d card.
KNac
yeah, read the update on 1.04 in the main forum: http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=52;t=003051 it seems the terrain rendering has been 'improved', a lot of the problems are coming from tehre as you can see in Mazex post in this same forum.
Xanthos581
pele, I don't have a laptop, never have so it must have been someone else. The only other computer I've run it on has an 8800GTS and it seems the same. But, then, it's probably pretty much the same card.
Sekra
Wow... I still cant understand how ignorant some of you can be. If you still think the 8xxx series cards are perfect and run just fine you really know how to pick the data you brain processes. For christ sake Nvidia themselves have admitted that the cards are having problems specially with texture management! And STILL some of you persist that the problem lies with CMSF code. Jesus, how hardheaded can you get?

Until we actually know what the problem is I think it wise to leave all possibilities open.
Trooper5
Actually who cares about frames. This game is F##@!!ing joke. Most of the time the vehicles and troops dont go where there are supposed to. Some times they go all around (even if the destination point is straight ahead an inch) and get shot up the ass. This is very frustrating and I've decided to shelve this thing until they get it right!! I was warned by the guys on a another forum not to get it. They won't buy because of the "theatre of war" fiasco. CMSF seems to be turning out the same!! Having said that, this will be an excellent game once the bugs are worked out.
