Everyone at Battlefront, I'm having the same mission editor problem and have tried all the fixes I've seen here, plus MadMatt's fix.

But I want to say, your work on this and your responses are great, I think it's appreciated. We know it will get fixed.

It is an outstanding game, I think a new landmark. I buy most war games that come out. I buy too many in fact, this is a truly great one.

Okay, I tried something just to see if it would work. I install the game on my older gaming machine which is a AMD 3200+ 32bit processor,with 1.5Gb of ram, and ATI X850XT with 256M of video ram running WIN XP Pro SP2(32bit) and everything works great! editor included from the base download without doing anything. Both .net framework 1.1 and 2.0 where already installed.

The other machine that has the problem is an AMD FX-53 64bit processor with 2Gb of ram, ATI 1600pro with 512M of video ram running WIN XP Pro SP2(64bit) it had framework 1.1 and 2.0, and I just added 3.0 64bit to see it that would help, the 64bit framework didn't have the same patches as the 32bit version.

The Game plays great on the 64bit version, but the editor won't run. The editor and the game work great on the 32bit machine.

I don't know if its the 64bit processor or the 64bit OS that is causing the problem. Are other people running 64bit OS on the 64bit processor having the issue, or just a 64bit processor with 32bit OS? It may be two different issues.

The Mission Editor will NOT run under Vista 64, thats actually stated in the System Specs section of the Features and Order pages.

That is due to a conflict with the new 64 bit version of .Net Framework and the Editor and NOT something that we can fix, at least at this time. Normal Vista (32 bit) should be able to run the editor.

Now, obviously, other people here aren't able to get the editor to work either with their OS's (XP Home and Pro, Vista 32, Media Center Edition etc...), but thats a different issue than the Vista 64 one and one in which we should have a new *test* fix to try and out shortly.

Let me just add, that Vista is actually not *officially* support by ToW. If you notice, we only list Windows XP as the OS, but in testing of the game, many of our guys did run it successfully under Vista so we are still dedicating the same effort into fixing reported issues by people with Vista.

Hey guys,we got a new thing we want you to try that has worked for a few people.

Browse into your Theatre of War game folder.

COPY (not move but COPY) the files "msvcr71.dll" and "msvcp71.dll"

Now go into your 'MissionEditor' directory and PASTE those files there.

Thats it! Try and launch editor now.

************** JIT Debugging **************

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

application or computer (machine.config) must have the

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.

The application must also be compiled with debugging

enabled.

For example:

<configuration>

<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />

</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception

will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

rather than be handled by this dialog box.

And yes I have updated with DirectX 9.0c April2007.....
