MikeyD
101st Airborne, Iraq. If I had to guess I'd say it was a 60mm mortar. Interesting to see a mortar tube, base, and legs all being carries one-handed suitcase style. Sound like that would build up the biceps pretty quick! Anybody got any description/designation for me?
SgtMuhammed
Yeah, it's their baby 60mm. 82nd has them as well. Can't remember what they are called. I don't remember if the suitcase carry is new though I didn't hang around mortar guys too much.
MikeyD
I found a nifty site on the thing. M224 is the designation. The handheld version just weighs 18 pounds! Max range 2400m - Just CM scale 60mm mortar specs & stuff
Peter Cairns
The UK still issues Infantry with a 51mm which is an updated version of the old CMBO 2". UK Army Equipment. I've often woundered how it compares with an auto grenade launcher and if it's day are numbered. Peter.
Guest Mike
The 51mm is mainly used for smoke isn't it? In which use it's rounds are probably bigger than the usual small-ish autoGL equivalent if any.
Moronic Max
And here I was hoping for a pic of Captain America...
John Kettler
MikeyD, I believe the term you're seeking is LWCMS (Lightweight Company Mortar System). It replaces the venerable 60mm mortar familiar to all WW II enthusiasts. Regards, John Kettler
hellfish
Fun little factoid - you can fire them from the hip like an oversized grenade launcher. There's a trigger on them for that purpose, but IIRC its rarely if ever used that way.
Sergei
That would be the preferred fire mode for all BF2 players, I bet. Can you fix a bayonet to it?
SgtMuhammed
two inch pressure sensitive tape can fix a bayonet to anything.

SgtMuhammed
Enough of it. Make a water ballon out of the tape and then tape a bayonet to it. You need a lot of tape though.
