flamingknives
For all of the grauniad's reputation, they do support the lads on the ground, and sometimes do cracking, and as importantly balanced, articles.
Hev
Please everyone read the full article, ive just finished it and have a lump in my throat! flamingknives
The Guardian has two notable reputations: One; It is prone to the odd howler on the typograpical front, the most famous being mis-spelling its own title, hence grauniad. Two; It is a favourite of the alleged wishy-washy liberal lefty brigade, with their open-toed sandals, muesli and yoghurt. To the extent that when my Grandfather found my father reading it, he called him a communist.
Hev
Called him a communist..... How funny is that! ROFL
Other Means
"Grauniad" was actually invented by Punch IIRC, not an actual mistake they made.
flamingknives
Private Eye, as it turns out. I didn't know that.

Hell you're probably a Daily Mail reader.
Soddball
Yes, pull your head out of the sand, flamingknives! Can't you see what a decade of socialism has brought to our nation? Tractor Production up 95% as part of our Glorious Leader's Five Year Plan!
flamingknives
Personally, I read The Guardian. My Grandfather, however, was a Daily Mail reader.
Peter Cairns
I read the guardian because although much of the comment and analysis is left of centre, it is separate from the news, and that is what for me makes it such a good paper. Their is no slant in the news stories or the choice of story, they are straight and high quality, unlike any Murdoch title where every story and the choice of story often show the editorial bias. In addition on the comment pages you often get articles from people on the right which are published without comment, and good ones from abroad. It's also got some very good economics coverage. All reasons why read it even though it's coverage of Scotland is pretty poor.... Peter.
'Card
Personally I've always felt that American newspapers would benefit tremendously from having nude women in them. If nothing else, it serves as a powerful visual reminder of what's really important.

thelmia
The Guardian can do good journalism, but like the NY Times it often chooses not to. The NY Times had John Burns, for instance. The problem is that all its other war reporting wasn't John Burns.

Meach
I read the Daily Mail. What's so bad about reading the Daily Mail?
flamingknives
It's a hate-mongering, reactionary scare-fest.

Their hate for it matches the loathing that the right has for Polly Toynbee.
