  1. Just something that worked on a point to poin bases would be simple and effective for all the time consuming things when building a mission, wether they are implementable or not is another thing. Still, i for one would make more ( i should say finish more) scenarios if the chore was taken out of laying walls/trenches/roads etc ps: after all, just putting in buildings can be quite time consuming in an urban environment pps: I'd also be happy(ish ) if any tool just handled straight lines (no junctions) and we had to fill in the gaps
  2. Not sure if anyones asked for this but now the game runs really smooth and people are starting to make bigger maps is there any chance of any type of tool to make laying down roads a bit quicker.
  3. That first screenshot with the falling syrian is AMAZING!
  4. mmmmmmmmmmm chinese units, do you think if BFC focused on a purely 2 sided conflict that we would see EVERYTHING in the inventories of the respected sides make the game?
  5. I dont see that the picture you paint for the furure is any different to how things are now. In any future war, as the recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the US will provide the wests major componant, however europe (the rest of nato) will still be able to provide a considerable presence although likely it would be a major combined/multi cultural effort. To steer this towards the subject of any game set 2015 onwards lets say, i still think BFC would want to add the major nato players (france, england and germany to name a few) I certainly believe though that even if its decided that European forces would not be realistic in a real life conflict, i believe it would be a sensible money making prospect (not to mention good for BFC's countless loyal customers) to add such content. After all, every one of the combat mission games is one we all want to have as much content for as possable. (Cos its more addictive then crack)
  6. Ok, my original comment about a cold war module was a joke.... Now on the subject of a near future game, asuming near future mean 2015 onwards. (Two years to reach the consumer + five to make it near future) what would that actualy add to the game? And your Brit and European comment is wrong on so many levels, you could just as easily apply that argument to shock force, after all its supposed to be about high intensity combat, and yet we have brits and a nato module on its way.
  7. *cry's* Ah well. We'll just have to wait for the "Cold War" module to get our hands on all that funky 80's kit
  8. http://www.armedforces.co.uk/army/listings/l0094.html Seems to imply that its still being used, although in the process of fasing out! If they are being withdrawn from service currently then they would definetly been used in a 2008 invasion of.....well anywhere. Be nice to give a British mechanised unit some different anti armour options and it wouldnt be out of the game scope, im surprised they were left out realy.
  9. Is it actauly in game? The British army was still fielding them in 2005.... weren't they?
  10. It certainly was intense, the problem with the terrain local to both groups was no line of sight away from thier defensive possitions. Now although that meant i was generaly safe from unseen grenades or more importantly RPG's, it did mean that all contacts happened very suddenly at close range. The cut off units in particular had many firefights start from less then 15 meters as enemy apeared between the trees (that didnt look very dense but provided some excellent cover) The whole situation led to a wierd 20 minutes of play, for two minutes there would be no sign of the enemy, then with NO warning all hell would break loose, sending me from almost bored (the sweating never stopped though) to sheer near uncontrollable panic. All the while my air support seemed to be challengng each other to drop ordinance closer and closer to the compound I also usualy play realtime but have made the switch recently to wego. I find my situational awareness has improved drasticly, coupled with not wanting to reload and a VERY good scenario concept this mission has given my a tiny insight into what it must be like for a real OC in the field. Not sure ive earnt my bars yet tho
  11. I honestly think that it was air power alone that held the compound. i called in CAS right on top of the police station, it was danger close most of the time. On at least two occasions rounds from an aircrafts strafing run hit the roof of the two story building in the compound. Between multiple strafing runs and the F15's dropping what looked like 2000 pound bombs all over the place, i dont think the AI had a chance to must any forces. RPG's however were always my bigest concern, so i kept all bar one unit on the ground floor and tried to minimise the angles an RPG could hit my lads from. This time luck was with me!
  12. Heres an AAR i put up at simhq, thought it would be rude not to link it here and thanks personaly to Birdstrike for the mission. Awesome fun http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2959587/Wombles_working_on_his_tan.html#Post2959587 Hope you all enjoy Ps: i would have actualy posted it here but it has 73 pictures in it and this forum only allows 5
  13. Ive noticed this too, frustrating to have to fire 3 shots just to get a tree out of your way!
  14. I hope your wrong about that! Im not going to pay for a "Normandy" module to only be playing one third of the invasion forces. As I understood it the first Module of the ww2 games would be the Normandy theatre so we should get ALL troops(and equipement) that fought in the battles for those beaches.
  15. If by "cherry pick" you mean the ability to choose your forces then i certainly am not going to pay for that seeing as it should have been in the game from day one. the QB system is still sooo broken that (in my experience) you only get a wokable force 1 outta 3 tries.
  16. Ive just started the second mission in the marine campaign and i notice that the aav's aren't carrying a launcher for the javalin (and ive double checked in a few scenarios) now is this a bug or what? Im guessing it must be seeing as the transports are carrying the missiles themselves but i'd like a conformation from soneone. Im running 1.20 if it makes a difference.
  17. Damn, they do sound alike! guess ill have to get used to it. Not a very scary sound tho is it
  18. Anyone else think the challenger sounds to much like the scimitar? the challenger sounds like a toy tank to me, is there any chance of just making the sound file a little deeper (less tin more base)
  19. Lol the forums been moving so fast these days i must have missed it, cheers
  20. Damn!!! i've been trying to win this as the Syrians and i just cant do it On one occasion i even managed to get 7 T72's to move in defilade over the right hill and move on the abrams from behind and still no cigar, my green troops just couldnt spot the enemy. There was some benifits to green troops, thier gun discipline is so poor they fire at shadows and gun flashes, im sure higher quality troops wont waste thier ammo like that unless you tell them but a may be wrong but it was nice to think they were scared of the "Invading yankee monsters". And then there were the awesome flight profiles of atgm's flown by people that must have cabbage for brains and cheese for thumbs, but it was great to see missiles veer of course and do barrel rolls
  21. There definately seems to be something we dont get regarding spotting. My question is how do you get the incredably lighty armoured recce units to carry out thier battlefield role effectively? I understand that we as the player are responsable for using the terrain so assuming weve done that well what else must we do to maximise spotting chances ie: coverarcs Vs not, buttoned or unbuttoned etc. A definative answer from Battlefront would realy help on this seeing as spotting your enemy is often the deciding factor in a battle.
  22. First off, i get the impresion i came accross as foaming at the mouth (reading my posts i can see how) but it did blowmy mind that i appeared to be seeing this massive spotting bug on my second play. I also get how i might not have been seeing the situation as it is (i dont think i was but i get that i might have) And ill try to replicate it as i dont have a save cos i rage quit As to having money on the battle of course i dont but i do have something invested in Battlefront. Ive bought all the combat mission games upto SF and with that i have a huge amount of time invested in the game series. Most of us that use this forum LOVE Battlefront for the games they produced and the experiences these games gave us (i for one in a deeply unhealthy sexual way ) which is why the game provokes such outbursts, for want of a better word. Now, im going to slink off feeling a little foolish for my rant and try to be a bit more productive @Mikey - Surely any trick a player can use the computer can be programmed to use aswell but the point is the computer must appear to be playing by the same "game rules" that you are using otherwise whats the point in playing against the computer?
