rik
Hi I have a pretty old PC but the demo runs fairly acceptable to me on it. Would the full game be such a change from the demo in terms of running relatively smoothly? Obviously bigger maps/more units will take their toll but I wonder if most of it will be playable or not? Any help appreciated. Rik
Hertston
You can't assume all scenarios will run acceptably just because the demo does. Some maps are real frame-rate killers, at least up to 1.03. 1.04 will apparently include a significant performance improvement, so you might want to hang on and ask the same question once that has been released?
aka_tom_w
bigger maps will hurt you on the release version on an older computer. How much Ram do you have? How much VRAM is there on your video card. (to play the game you should go with their suggested hardward specs: System Requirements SUGGESTED: Operating System: Windows XP (Vista is supported) Processor: Pentium IV 2.8 GHz or equivalent speed AMD processor or better Video Card: GeForce 6800 or Radeon x850 (256 Megabyte VRAM or better and must support 1024x768 or higher resolution) Sound Card: DirectX 9 compatible Sound Card System Memory: 1 Gigabyte or more RAM Hard Drive Space: 1 Gigabyte Other Requirements: CD Drive (not needed for download version)
rik
Cheers guys I'm a bit embarrassed to give you the specs of my PC! The CPU is an old AMD Athlon 1200Ghz with 1Gb RAM. Video is a Radeon 9250 128Mb. I know, I know.....

SgtMuhammed
Well if we are walking down computer memory lane, try this one on for size: Intel 8088 2mhz CPU 512k RAM Hercules Monochrom video card 10 meg hard drive 856 baud modem Runs fine (whatever). (I still can't get over the fact that my new computer has more RAM than my first 5 systems HDD space combined.)
Martin Krejcirik
856 baud modem, WTH was that, I remember I had 2400bps modem (my first).
SgtMuhammed
I have no idea what it meant but I thought it was cool at the time. I just remember that modems used to be classed by baud rate then it changed to bps, kbps, etc. I think it meant bps but I am not sure.
hoolaman
Don't forget the demo is still 1.02, so you should wait for the 1.04 demo before making a judgement.
