Grenade Types - Tear Gas, Smoke?

Hi,

Not much mention has been made of grenades yet. I wonder, do U.S. forces ever use smoke grenades? I know that in WWII smoke was usually from an artillery battery but nowadays I would imagine most squads have smoke grenades. Am I wrong?

Whilst on the subject, is Tear Gas ever used in MOUT? It would make sense to me to use it, especially against militia or insurgents who don't have access to gas masks. If it is ever used in RL, is it in the game?

I know they are allowed to carry frag and smoke, but I know its kinda user Dependant on the load out anymore. No tear gas though, its considered a a type of chemical weapon and needs near presidential order to be used.

Unless it's on your own troops in training. Man I can still smell that stuff.

Stop crying (tear gas - crying, get it) Did you ever have to run the chamber for your entire battalion? My wife can still smell the stuff.

I have to give the run through the gas chamber credit for one thing though, my sinuses have never been that clear.

I was wondering if we get the option to manually use stuff like grenades for area fire and smoke screens. E.g you are below a balcony you know it is occupied by enemies and you want to lob a grenade in it. Will it be done by the TacAI ala CMx1?

Popping smoke is a user command primarily, available also to squads (and vehicles etc.). I say "primarily" because the TacAI *will* kick in and do it in a tight spot even without your order (that's called Evade and can be forced by the player, too, by the way).

Throwing grenades is a TacAI thing entirely. Just like the choice which weapon/ammo to use against which target. The people under your command are paid to make this decision, so we let them.

Thats good to hear, I'd hate for this to turn into some kind of quasi FPS. I'm not sure many of us would have the fortitude to micromanage our little digital squads that much anyway.
