Excellent news - one question though : in the requirements no mention is made of needing an internet connection to install or play the game.

Does this mean that the copy protection you're going with is serial number, cd-in-the-drive or none as in SC1 ?

Don't tell me you've gone StarForce ... smile.gif

No to Starforce, and no to the other copy protection schemes. The demo is not copy protected at all.

For the full version, you will have to find some place to access the internet, but it does not have to be from your home or the computer that you want to install the game to. An internet cafe or a friend with an internet connection will do. Since you have to have internet access of some sort to order the game in the first place because it's not available anywhere else, it's not really anything newsworthy smile.gif

I liked the demo, really enjoy and think I am going to buy the game but, always a "but", what I really dont liked, hope this is only on the demo, is when you upload the units on the D-Day scenario you would found that the tank icons for the british are a Matilda and for the Canada armor is a T-70!! please fix that really hurts the eyes, Battlefront really did a nice job so would be a pain have this type of things on the game, thanks and congratulations for this game.

Best

First : thanks for the answer - but it's a bit incomplete. Is this Internet activation a 1-time afair or will you have to go through that procedure again when you get a new pc ?

If it's not, then we won't be able to freshly install the game again when Zeus forbid Battlefront isn't around anymore.

Secondly : does it allow you to install the game on your main rig and on your laptop for when you're on the road ?

Eddy, the answer is incomplete because you have to wait until we formally announce what we'll be doing. Our copy protection goes hand in hand with our soon to be launched digital delivery platform, and then all questions will be clear.

Short answers to your two questions: you will need to relicense each time you install the game *ON A NEW PC*, but this won't be a problem if Battlefront won't be around anymore. I have had a lengthy debate about this with fantomas on this board, have a look there. And secondly, yes, you can install the game on your laptop and desktop at the same time.

Again, more answers when we make a formal announcement and launch, so even if you have any more questions, please hold them back smile.gif

Martin

PS. Slight correction and clarification to what I wrote above: you only need to re-license if you install the game on a new PC. If you deinstall and reinstall later, the license is remembered on your PC, unless you make major modifications to your system. So you do not have to relicense, the game will work right away. Same thing with patches... no need for you to do anything. If you deinstall and delicense the game on your PC, you can do with it anything you want, including giving it to somebody else. Before you can play again, however, you need to re-license it. More details will be available when we launch the system, and it's really a simple, effective and non-obstrusive system.

Kuniworth, yes: we plan to sell people one gazillion games with an awkward copy protection which will prevent them from running the game more than once, then close the business overnight and buy a secret private island off the Chinese coast. If anybody asks, you didn't hear this from me though! tongue.gif

Hello,

thanks it indeed helped, even if not the way someone might think.

I considered to have a closer look at my system afterwards and found that somehow i only got DX 6.1 running !

Now the latest DX i got was pu on and SC2 runs.

Bus sadly i had a crush with some surface error after three or four turns.

Will try again and hope this was an exception, for if it happens often i won't have fun with SC2.

Sounds suspiciously like the Talonsoft business plan ;)

Seriously : **** happens - I wish Battlefront a long and profitable live but I was around when the big wargame publisher's names were SSI, AH and QQP ...

Since there was some confusion, I have updated/edited my post above to better describe the new licensing system.

Eddy, Battlefront is around since founded by Steve and Charles in 1998, so we're moving up to our 7th birthday. We've been one of the very first indie publishers selling mainly over the internet, and have since been copied - knowingly or unknowingly - by others. We have seen many "big" publishers come and go (mostly go smile.gif ) during this time, and people predicted on our forum that we'd be dead, the forum is dead and everything is worse than it was approximately 98,457 times. I think we've got a pretty good track record to last for a few more years... ;)

Hi Moon, just curious if you have an idea on when the shipping house will get product and begin to ship and if you'd be so kind to say when? thx

ISTR, BFC typically puts up the demo at or about the tie the game is shipping, but have not found any mention of the game shipping.

Hello,

so finally i played the demo without any problems, guess my windows had some hick up.

Ok - i admit i played it twice...:)

And after i got used to the new optic, which is not quite as functional as in part one, i really fell in love with the many small improvements there are in SC2.

Hubert did it again! If the fullversion represents what the demo promises it will endanger my private life for sure !

I cannot wait to have that game !

Hey Eddie, welcome to the forum.

Glad your checking out the best Strategic game around.

Still I wish you would hammer on Dave(Arjuna) to get PBEM incorporated into CotA. Well at least for BftB.

Its the one thing holding up the universal acceptance of such an excellent series of games.
