Magpie
Here is a little leap of faith. Obviously everyone on this forum is going to purchase SC2 as soon as it becomes available. So Battlefront, why not post up the unit bitmaps so all the 'mod-heads' can start setting up units for... 1. WW1 scenario's 2. Nato contemporary scenarios 3. WW2 symbols sets, instead of minatures. etc. go on...
Hubert Cater
This is an interesting idea although I would say that it's still a little early for this at the moment, but something to consider once the game is nearer completion
Les the Sarge 9-1
While we are talking about counter symbology. Has anyone ever seen the counters used in Avalon Hill's game The Longest Day? They were modelled after WW2 German symbols rather than modern Nato symbols. Personally, I don't mind clarity first and last, but those symbols are just so kicking cool looking. I didn't know any board game that used it!
Queipo de Llano
Hey, I resoundingly second Magpie's suggestion. In a previous incarnation I myself had a host of "surrendering French" all ready to go when I finally received SC1 in the mail.
Les the Sarge 9-1
Yeah that's basically them. There are more of course, but the game used those, and I think it really added something to the game.
Wolfe
That would be very cool (I hope to do an SC1-style mod), but I wonder if releasing the BMPs themselves would really be all that useful. Since we wouldn't have the game yet, how would we be able to tell how well things fit? And are the bitmaps the same as in SC1; tiled onto a BMP sheet? Or is there some other special thing that needs to be done since they extend over top of adjacent map tiles? Is the shadow on the unit a real shadow or just a part of the bitmap? - Chris
