pzgndr
Mr.Dozer, Vic is doing a fine job developing a computer game from scratch all by himself. Can YOU do that?? Rather than trolling, you might offer to help playtest and improve the game? If you're willing to work, that is. Whining and complaining is just too easy and accomplishes nothing. Kuniworth
I agree with Bill. Nothing wrong with People's tactics, I think he did a pretty good job. Beeing a free game I don't see any reason at all why you sdhould complain HERE about it.

Mr.Dozer
actually i would like to create my own game i just dont have the programs to, if i did i would. so if anyone does have i would like to try my hand at it.
Desert Dave
ok im sorry its just compared to sc it just didnt copare. No need to apologize, Mr.Dozer. If you don't think it's worth a tinker's damn (... as I surely didn't with that much bally-hoo'd piece of junk... GG's WaW), then it's perfectly alright to say so. You'll discover that just about EVERYBODY on this board has strong opinions, and ain't so shy about making them very well known, IE, LOTS of testosterone circulating, 'round & 'round it flows, with no particular place to go... LOLOLOLOL! I've been playing these WW-2 GS games for a long, long time, and I tell you now: SC-2 has got them ALL beat. Bad. It's a bad, bad game, Mr.Dozer. ________________________________________ Poster's NOTE: In the event some of them young guns don't get the righteous drift, see, back in the day, back in them 60s' days... "bad" meant "cool, impossibly so almost," like it's... so awful good that it's... bad. See what I mean? Just so there's no mis-understanding here, though, there rarely is, eh? Kuniworth
thats good news Dave. Now to the next question; when will we not fortunate to be beta-testers see how bad sc beat the other ww2 games? 1 month, 2, 6, 12???

Mr.Dozer
thanks for the back up. i was wondering if the first few tried it, i mean it would be ok if i could see some action then nothing. Heres a decent game kinda boring after a while since there is no Ai but its ok. http://homepage.eircom.net/~monalisa/HitlersWar/
Hubert Cater
I haven't had the chance to try out People's Tactics but some things we should all consider: a) it is not that easy to make a game... believe me I know from the looks of it Victor has made a substantial effort and although it may not appeal to everyone I'm sure he would much prefer that you offer constructive criticism. Yes it is free... but as Bill mentioned, he does have an open forum so don't hesitate to drop him a line and offer ideas for improvment. At the end of the day, we all have to remember that this is still a niche hobby, i.e. the more games the merrier, and even SC1 started as a little *experiment* just to see if I could make a game... so who knows what might become of People's Tactics (with the right direction/feedback) down the road? Retributar
Yes!...now that ive gone to the Peoples Tactics Web-Site...i remember the game!. I did play it for a bit...It was difficult to figure out the instructions/rules etc...but, what i did play seemed to not be too bad!. I believe the fellow who made this game...was posting at this SC2 Discussion Site around a year and a half ago or so!. His game has promise...as far as im concerned...but i would like for him to greatly SIMPLIFY his game rules and instructions.
Victor Reijkersz
@Hubert, Thanks for redirecting Mr Constructive to my forum Looking forward to seeing SC2 soon! Happy coding. @All, PT was never ment to be like SC. It is ment to integrate tactical and strategic gameplay into one game. Anyways i am working hard on PT2 and am trying to move it towards a beta version. Still half year to go for that happening though. @Retributar, I fear the rules will not be simplified. I just like it to add somany rules to a game that playing it correctly becomes more a way of intuition than cold calculation. Kind regards, Vic
Avatar
Hi Victor, I played your game, and was quite impressed. Where do you get all that free time?!
Desert Dave
Heres a decent game kinda boring after a while since there is no Ai but its ok. Thanks for the link Mr.Dozer. Have already down-loaded and taken 'er out for a spin and... well, it's a bit... incomplete. Here's hoping the developer can fine tune that thing... maybe one day when I get some free time I'll sign in on the forum and offer up some ideas. Avalon Hill's board game of same name was a lot of fun to play, and didn't take very long to set 'er on up and complete a full campaign... recommended.
Mr.Dozer
yeah its a bit incomplete but isnt bad. just wish when you moved you could attack a unit instead of trying to push them out.
NumLock
The interface could use quite a bit of improvement, but otherwise I think Dozer's comments were out of line. I do NOT have to offer ANY reason why these two games suck. I CAN explain in some detail if I WANT to. Just now, for reasons of my own, I choose not to. So? If yer gonna roll something out in front of the public, whether a new game or, let's say a new excuse for an old, old, trumped up War, well, You better be able to stand up and take it, eh? _______________________ [ January 28, 2006, 04:26 AM: Message edited by: Desert Dave ]

Night
Ha, I spent some hours playin peoples tactics, and I esp. like the WWII pacific scen. The gameplay is solid although the A.I. isn't much to speak of. Art. is somewhat quirky but better then the way SC represents it. All in all, I think if Vic takes PT and fixes most of the problems, then PT2 should be one amazing game. Good luck
Desert Dave
Ya know, Mr.Dozer, Ya oughta go into every forum, Around 'em War-game towns, And sign on up, and Start a thread entitled" "What a crappy game!" I'm sure Vic would appreciate it. (... and all 'em SC Cats who love that game oughta go on over and sign in there and offer advice and maybe even get a free game for beta testing? Once Vic commences charging real monies? ) First a true life tale, then Some advice, which you ain't gotta Even listen to, nope, You never ever do. It's like when I went out to Big LA After the Army let me loose And I turned in that plastic Mattel toy, In the late 60's it was, see, uh huh, I wuz gonna be the liveliest Jive Cat To hit them star scarred boulevards, oh, Since James Dean roared into La-La Land From outta back-roads Indiana, In 'is chopped down, back-firing jalopy, LOL! And so, I wandered 'round ogling The palm trees and all them California Girls the Beach Boys had moaned Over, and finally... auditioned for a part As a Hell's Angel, Side saddle Pal Of grungy 'ol Dennis Hopper, yea verily, only Trouble being, They finally had them a huddle Of befuddled dipsy doodle Hippies, and Cut out that bit part Altogether! LOLOLOL! Anyway, my high-rent Agent - such as 'e was, With his bifocals and crooked hairpiece and This striped AND checkered vest what Had cigarette burns all down the front, 1, 2, 3, anna 4 - I counted 'em all While standin' and a'starin' at 'im, hell It's all I could do, I couldn't git no word In edgewise, and so, tra la, finally He'd said to me (... kinda outta side of 'is mouth): "Kid! Git yer name OUT there, however It is that you haffta do it." "Rent a billboard On corner of Sunset and Western Ave, And stick yer ugly mug up there, or Pick a fight with sotted Jim Morrison Out in parking lot of Whiskey A'Go'Go, Anything!" "'Cept, maybe, don't murder nobody." "... Hmmmm, wait a minute, on the other hand... " LOLOLOLOLOL. And so, Vic got his name Up in 'em bright BF spot lights, Hooray for Hollywood, how nice. I'll bet you a crisp new five spot That NOBODY ELSE will be so Gracious and helpful As Hubert has been? Wanna bet on it, Kid? LOLOL! ________________________________ BTW: You don't wanna be seen hanging around me So much. You won't be popular 'mongst The various cliques and tree house gangs What hang around these here parts. LOLOLOLOL, Ah, well, what the hell, ALWAYS stand up For yerself. Always always always, always. Say what YOU think, And NEVER... just go along... to get along. EVEN IF the rest of Crowd Smacks you, ignores you, or Climbs on 'at 'er sway-back Hoss what brung 'em on in, Don't be a'ridin' after no Bad Cat phantoms, yes?
JerseyJohn
Well, DD, guess I've declined your advice, or don't care much about being popular etc & so on. I'd like to say more but Belmundo and ImmerEtwas and myself are in a bit of a hurry to get on the NM desert for some serious ice fishing before the Sunday rush exits from the churches.
