Vermillion
Hello! Myself and a friend would like to connect to each other for a IP game, but the problem is we're both on shared networks - that is, we're both on a network locally that has multiple computers sharing one external IP address. This seems to cause problems detecting each other - we can try to connect to one another's external IP but CM fails to detect. I was hoping there was a workaround or that I'm being stupid about something. Thanks for any help!
Sergei
Unfortunately, unless you both are within the same network, neither of you can host a game. I'm in the same boat with you guys...
Bridge
If I'm reading the manual corrctly TCP port 7023 should be opened to allow incoming and outgoing transmissions.
Sergei
That doesn't help though if you don't have your own external IP address which others could join to.
Hpt. Lisse
Do you "see" all of the network machines on your computer?
WWB
If you two are on the same local network, you should be able to connect using local ips. WWB
Steve McClaire
You need to set it up so the externally-visible machine / router forwards all requests for port 7023 to your private IP address, and your friend will need to do the same. Most routers have a fairly simple 'fowarding' setup where you just type in the port number and then IP address the router should forward to. Redwolf
On one side, the router/firewall which actually has a visible IP address must forward it to the CM machine (that would be the one to host).
