Pistol standard issue?

Another instance of weapons issued per vehicle rather than to a crewmember is the bazooka assigned to every halftrack in US armored infantry formations. They were not all used by the infantry because trained operators were short compared to tubes, and they were often not needed because there wasn't enough German armor around to worry about. But they were there, assigned to the 'track, to be used by its passengers in the event they ran into tanks.

JasonC's got that one right too. This is similar to other equipment, such as HMG tripods and lots of other stuff. For example, a German Rifle Platoon (IIRC) has one HMG tripod issued to it for fixed defense. The tripod is not issued to any particular unit, but to the formation. Similar concept as the SMG or Bazooka in that the weapon is not tagged to a specific soldier or even a specific unit.

Any hints on how zooks are going to be handled in CMx2 Steve? Will our armored infantry at least finally have the potential for the FP they were assigned? AT mines too? ;);)

Was the same for PIATs in Stuart Recces (or Stuart Kangaroos, as they were called in CM), and Bren Tripods (I kid you not) in Commonwealth infantry platoons. Each platoon had three Brens but only 1 tripod in the late war era. The men of an infantry platoon were usually too busy fighting over the treacle pudding that came in the Compo rations to fight over who got the Bren tripod.

EDIT: edited material in navy

Dale, they do have the practical FP they deserve already. The difference is less tactical flexibility. That is something that is already addressed in CMx2. Specifically, the divorce of weapons from soldiers. This has fundamental ramifications that have already been discussed, such as being able to abandon a HMG or mortar.
