Thin Red Line Posted October 16, 2003 Share Posted October 16, 2003 Yes units of the the Légion Etrangère were in Italy from March until August 44 and fought during the Garigliano offensive, a part of the Cassino Battle. It appears that a lot of the Germans who volunteered for the Legion in the late '30s did so at the behest of the Abwehr and the French suspected this. Baron von Beergut Posted October 17, 2003 Share Posted October 17, 2003 I'm not sure, but I thought the Germans tried to pull a lot of their nationals out of the legion and used them in forming the 361st regt of the 90th "Afrika" division?
