Big Jim
What is the best WWII museum anyone has ever been to, anywhere in the world? Fancy going to one this summer (in UK, preferably), but can't make tankfest.

Emar
Leave Aberdeen proving grounds off your list. Lots of rare and unique WWII armour and equipment sitting outside unprotected and turning to rust. From what others have told me Bovington is the one to see
CombinedArms
I haven't seen very many. Bovington may have it's equals elsewhere, but I'm guessing it would be hard to beat.

Ant
For me it was the Great patriotic war museum in Moscow. The dioramas in particular were very impressive.
Carl Puppchen
As far as Aberdeen, they are trying to raise money to put all those vehicles under cover. You can go here to contribute. http://www.ordmusfound.org/ You can also "adopt" a vehicle. Also remember that Aberdeen is a working facility. I think they are trying to test an armored humvee there right now.
patboy
MUSEE des BLINDES SAUMUR (Loire)FRANCE Very best german tanks collection in world and I can confirm they work, specially the KingTiger II. Pat
Andreas
IWM Landwarfare Hall at Duxford is nice. Go on a sunny bankholiday weekend, and all the veteran planes will be out to fly.
Darknight (DC)
The new Canadian War Museum looks like it's going to be impressive (but it's not opening until Spring 2005).
Brent Pollock
Having grown up in Ottawa, I'd rank it above Calgary's Museum of the Regiments (which is still a damned fine visit) mainly because of the variety - love that ME163, and the D-Day diorama's a keeper. As to Naval warfare museums - Calgary (yes, prairie-bound Calgary) has the largest one in Canada and it's a gem, housing a wide array of gear and vet knowledge as well as three aircraft...my volunteer watchkeeper shift is the morning of the 22nd, if anyone feels like dropping in. Darknight (DC)
And if we're getting into specific vs general, I'd have to recommend the RCR Regimental Museum in London, ON...it is very good (but as mentioned, only deals with the one regiment).

Which one? I understand the Naval Museum will be moving to the Museum of the Regiments so that all facilities will be under one roof - is that just a rumour?

The LWH is pretty good, especially for guns. The downside is not much in the way of panzers. Martin

Brent Pollock
Hit the money wall when both the Feds pulled their matching funding "promise". Struggling at the moment.
