  1. If you have notions of cyrillic alphabet, this site has pretty good campaign maps.
  2. Are you Romanian Philippe? A Romanian friend of mine told me that the correct writing should rather be "Pericol de Mine" (he says that pericolul means " *the* danger " and is therefore not adequate here). Or even better: "ATENTIE MINE" (with a sort of comma under the second "T").
  3. Thanks guys for the answers and photos So it looks like really not too many of them have been captured... I assume that a similar number of SU-122 or SU-152 may have been captured as well, but these have not been added to CMBB units because of the lack of evidence?
  4. Hi, I am looking for some info about these. It would be nice if some expert around here could tell me how many captured SU-85 have been used and the size and sectors of the unit(s?) they operated in. Or maybe this was just "occasional" captures? Thanks!
  5. It's a pity for that impossible time machine Just downloaded Rome Total War demo yesterday... I was expecting that I could import some L6/40s to protect roman troop flanks against those nasty elefants !!!
  6. Hi, Just two quick answers: 2. The 6-pounder AT gun, like any other AT gun, must have direct LOS to the target. FOs are only able to direct the fire of the artillery unit they are attached to. 3. The delay you can see when setting up waypoints (e.g. 13s) is the delay required for the unit to understand your orders. See it as the min delay before the unit actually starts doing what you want it to do. Now you can increase this delay, using the 'p' key. For example if you start a turn with a tank on a crest, you can give it a reverse order and adjust the delay so that the order will be executed 50 seconds after the turns begins. Thus the tank will be hidden at the end of turn.
  7. How do you use towed guns for attack? If you have hills on your starting position, it should be more or less ok... but how do you handle them when starting with no LOS on the objectives? Mine are regularly smashed one after the other when advancing or setting up ... Or I try to have them crossing a wood and they are so slow the game stops before they reach firing position
  8. I want an intermediate stage in QB for purchasing troops, between Human only and Random (AI) only. I want to be able to spend some of my points and let the AI buy randomly with the remaining points, for both sides. Quite often when playing against the AI, I would like to fight against some specific equipments whithout having to purchase everything for AI side, which prevents any type of surprise. That's for AI units. Now with respect to buying units for myself, well, I usually enjoy playing with random ones but sometimes I would like to be able to say "okay, I will fight this battle with any possible configuration but please give me at least one PaK 40 - and not only Inf Coy and Armored Cars as usual."
  9. Yes, but Hitler was very doubtful about that. I have read somewhere he would have said that as soon as the british fleet from alexandria would arrive, Italians would flee and Fallschirmjäger would be actually alone.
  10. Dschugaschwili, can you confirm that tanks cannot run over ennemy troops? I remember a battle where one of my Stugs apparently ran over an ennemy plt, don't know if it was intentional or not. The stug was out of ammo and inf was approaching, instead of reverse movement, it went fast to the squad then back. And the squad was eliminated.
  11. I went there too... Malta is sort of mediterranean bocage, stone walls everywhere. Very interesting for scenarios !!! My bet is that such defensive terrain would make the battles specially tough for the Germans !
  12. No turret, one single MG with less ammo. At that time (beginning of 1944) the Germans could have expected to regain initiative and would have thus needed a true tank rather than this JPz. You may figure out why in CMBB by trying two different QB attacks using first JPz, then Pz At least if the AI does not expose its tanks from the beginning and has decent starting positions for infantry and ATGs... 13. Yes, that's usually a great feature! Yet one (a little) annoying aspect: LMGs are regularly misidentified as "Crew?", I guess it is because the team is a 2-men one in both cases. Knowing that, I concentrate my fire on the "crews", but at the beginning I seriously wondered how some pistol-equipped guys managed to inflict such casualties to my troops...
  14. Actually it was the opposite. I am not sure about the date - I believe it is in beginning of 1942 - the Royal Navy had no more BBs in Mediterranean Sea (Italian minisubs + some diverted to Pacific I guess). It was the right moment to attack Malta, but Rommel wanted to run for Cairo... What if Malta had fallen ?
  15. That's it !!! Now I understand what the Peng thread is about !!! Thanks a lot beholders for that long - yet brilliant - explanation.
  16. I do recommend it, too. http://www.musee-des-blindes.asso.fr/blindes/jcollect.htm
  17. Not that sure ... What about Manchuria campaign in 1945?
  18. That's two good websites I have found: http://panzernet.webzdarma.cz/index.htm http://www.wio.ru/tank/ll.htm The first one shows good photos, not the most common ones. The second one is about lend-lease and is more classical. But, if you consider the numbers, you will notice something quite strange: M3A1 Stuart: 1676 (OK) . . . M4A2 Sherman (76mm): 2095 (OK) . . . M26 Pershing: 1 WHAT??!! Is it true? It must be, I found it on other sites as well. But how is it possible?! At the time the M26 was developped, Russians did not really need tanks from the US, especially only one!! OTOH, no doubt that they studied the technology, gun, protection... Certainly useful in Korea! Does somebody know the story of that M26 sent as a gift to Stalin?
  19. Who else would have done the job then ? Elite (German) divisions were needed everywhere, especially in Caucasus at that time. There were simply too few of them.
  20. Hearts of Iron. I received it yesterday, and actually I had been convinced to buy it thanks to a post on that forum. And it is great [ April 29, 2004, 10:39 AM: Message edited by: Alexei ]
  21. Great JS-II anti-HEAT skirts on that page ! I doubt there were many of them... (sorry for being out of the topic)
  22. What is true, what is propaganda here?: The JS-2 in Comparison with Its German Counterparts Were Tiger II really that bad when encountering JS-2 ??
