Michael Dorosh
I know this has been talked about before, but before the CM series goes to the new engine "why not a Korean War game"? I have been playing tonsil hockey with my dog so I think my favorite series (CM) should go there too! My 2 cents....
Jim Boggs
Slap me for a fool, but I swear I see a trend here somewhere.

Hans
I think it would make a good secondary module for CMX2 but only after they do the main event. Hey and I want horse and kitchen units.
AndrewTF
Why not a role-playing game in which the character of Madmatt goes around with a big ol' padlock and shuts down gratuitous sarcastic threads?
BARMAN1950
Hey Mr Dorosh, I agree with you 100%. I think that it would be a logical extension to the WW II games. There would be some small update in weaponry but the tactics would be similar. The NKPA used mostly Russian tactics and weapons. It would be a reminder to me of how futile the M24 Chaffee was against the T34. As most of you will remember the US medium Tank Bn's were, in the early days, not armed with Medium tanks. We finally got M4A3E8 tanks around September of 1950. They could handle the T34's. Also, we did not get the 3.5 inch bazooka until early August of 1950.

MeatEtr
Sarcasm aside. I got a hunch, a really really good hunch.................that the new CMX2 will be highly moddable. Then all kinds of different conflicts could be modded. At least thats what im hoping for anyway. It would be a great nod to the CM community. But then again that could be translated into less money making products for BTS. Sarcasm, come on in. At least then i could and would mod the ongoing battles between my cats and dogs vs. the mice in the tall weeds in my field. A truly historic battle.

Hans
MeatETR Hopefully the new CM will be modular. With the company selling a framework and modules, west front, east front, NA, early war and then later on SCW etc, etc. Don't know if they will do that but hopefull they will. They have the advantage that if they produce a frame work there are enough cm love slaves out here to flesh out the material. Looking forward to the Granc Chaco module!

...................................
Michael - while you get stuck into the Russian tactics experts, can you remember a thread you started and I chipped into with some websites containing TO&Es? Searching hasn't found it, and I lost my 'favourites' in a system crash. A long shot but just in case....

dieseltaylor
I vote we go for a CM subscription model so our heroes just get on inventing new games and improvements without having to divert their energies to grubby commerce : ) Say 20 bucks a head - discount if you have more than one .....

...................................
OK thanks anyway Michael, it was a long shot. IIRC there were only two posts on it, and it's seemingly so insignificant that the forum search engine can't spot it. Back to Googling!

But I doubt any russian commanders ever said, "hit them witha human wave"... I think the allies may have felt the same thing in Korea? Any better sources then Beevor? Also, you are aware, if you have read the book closely, that the major action in Stalingrad occured in 1942? Also, you are probably not aware that in Stalingrad the Red Army pioneered MOUT tactics that are still used as an example in e.g. the Marine Corps Gazette, namely the use of specialised combined weapons assault groups? It was of course easier for the losing Germans to blame their defeat on either human waves or unskilled labour (Romanians), but it is also so much more face-saving when you are being simply outfought.
Andreas
Michael If it makes you feel better, I caught the tonsil hockey part. While having breakfast, thanks. Not that I know a lot about NKPA tactics, but IIRC the first units that launched the war were using some quite robust late-war Soviet tactics/operational strategy. Once those had been dispatched of, things went downhill, and the Chinese army was the one you always hear of using human wave tactics - I am certain too that Yacinator's understanding of the difference will only be surpassed by his mastery of grammar and his succinct delivery of simple truth that is known by all.
