zmoney
I have one small question;-----Spolier------ I am currently playing the first battle and was wondering why the designer decided to use three individual Toldia tanks instead of a platoon minus. I know it’s a very small and insignificant question but was just wondering. For anyone who enjoys small battles with low points this is a very good scenario. Simple and fun. Oh and are all these scenario's designed to be played against the AI?
Stryker
Quick question. How come this is packaged as an EXE? Does it change any of the base CM files? Should I back anything up before installing?
zmoney
I wondered the same thing myself.I set the installer to just insert the files to my documents. All there was, was just these six or so battles, no other files. I think they did this just to make it easy for everyone.
Szedrencs
Hi there! I made the installer with the thing in mind, that it's easier to use it then to copy different files. Don't bother, you do NOT have to backup anything in your folders, since it does not overwrite anything, just creates the 6 scenarios in the Scenario folder. If you have finished it, and don't want to have it on your computer just use the uninstaller (Start Menu -> Combat Mission Barbarossa to Berlin -> Hungarian Mission Pack -> uninstall Simple, isn't it? We thought about getting some of the different Hungarian themed mods into it (starting screen, new skins) but dropped the idea finally due to concerns about overwriting things, that people might not want to be overwritten. So it's just the missions, which are thoroughly researched, so we hope you enjoy playing them. And there are more of them to come.
Andreas
Looks nice. Tip of the day - when providing screenshots of maps, it is advisable for them not to show forces, or to post a spoiler alert. All the best Andreas
_UXcva
Please make a non-.exe download available if you would. Mac users like myself can't open an .exe Thanks
Szedrencs
Is a Zip suitable for you? If yes, I'll make another download for Mac users. (And that's what I call customer service) )

Szedrencs
@zmoney: The desinger of the scenario told me, that: "The reason for the three individual Toldis is that they have been hastly moved forward to the front from the field workshops to aid the advancing infantry, and their radios are broken down. The 3 individual Toldis simulate the difficulties resulting from this."

Bannon DC
Thanks for the scenarios guys. I've been very interested in the siege of Budapest. I recently made an operation based on the fighting on Margit Island (currently in playtesting at The Proving Grounds web site). I am wondering if you can share any of the sources you used for maps. I've been looking for a good source for months... especially of the Buda side of the city. The numerous hills makes if difficult to make historically accurate maps. I plan to buy "The Siege of Budapest" by John Lukacs soon. Are you familiar with this book... if so, are the maps in it any good? Thanks, Bannon
lucero1148
Szedrencs, Many thanks for making these Hungarian scenarios and for providing a Mac zip pack as well. You should post them at the Scenario Depot II too as quite a few people go there for scenarios. You all did a very impressive job!
bardosy
@lucero1148: Where is the Scenario Depo II? (what's the link?) @Bannon DC: I made the Budapest scenarios... and I use a many different maps. One of them a city map from 1940. It's good for authentic street names (a modern map don't show the old names, like Mussolini squere and now we have Roosevelt squere and it's very strange in 1944 ) But this map is disortied(?). The angle of roads is wrong (maybe to desinform the american bomer pilots). For this reason, I used some modern maps too. http://lacko.pcdome.hu/CMBB/Terkep/bpmap1_41.jpg http://lacko.pcdome.hu/CMBB/Terkep/bpmap2_41.jpg http://lacko.pcdome.hu/CMBB/Terkep/bpmap3_41.jpg http://lacko.pcdome.hu/CMBB/Terkep/bpmap4_41.jpg

Szedrencs
Despite the fact that I haven't read it, AFAIK many of the guys who designed the scenarios did. (I just made some translations, and the installer, so the praise must go to the scenario designers.) http://www.historynet.com/wwii/reviews/wwiireview0306-1/ Luckily, it's written by a Hungarian, and is also available in English. If you are intrested, I can look at the availability of the used sources in English.

Here's one you might be interested in: http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/digkonyv/szakdolg/mihalyi/mihalyi.htm#_Bevezetés This is in Hungarian and was provided by a helpful person from another WWII web forum. I can't read it, but it appears to be a detailed account of the fighting. What I have been trying to find is a detailed topographical map of the Buda area. The hills over there are amazing. Most street maps just don't give you an idea of the increadible terrain. Bannon
bardosy
Bannon DC: I bought the original CD-ROM of this map (what you link). This is a very good map and I study a lesson from this guy (who made this map). But this map is newer then my two Budapest scenario in the pack.
