Looking for a game-does this exist?

Hey everybody,

Wearing out my copy of SC here, and it's created a *want* in my heart. I apologize upfront for this being off-topic.

Does anyone know of a game in existence where you run a country? Not necessarily a 'sim' game, as I'm looking for something realistic. There was an OLD game called Hammurabi on my Commodore 64 where you had a certain population, and you sold some food, used some food to feed your farmers, and raised some food... on to the next turn.

I've been dreaming about a game like this, only much, much more in depth. Maybe where you're a king, and you handle diplomacy, decisions to declare war (while not necessarily controlling the troops directly), production, research, etc. etc.

I've tried the civilizations and others like that, and they're just so 'gamey'... looking for other people's thoughts!

There's 'Diplomacy', the 1999 Avalon Hill/Hasbro version of the ole board game.

... having never played it, but quoting from the gamespot review:

Not only is the interface clunky and awkward, but the artificial intelligence is terrible, and the multiplayer support is buggy. - Michael E. Ryan

Woohoo!

You could also try "The General".

Its a free Russian game that is very addictive.

Not much grafix but the concept is interesting.

Also you may want to look around at underdogs. They may have some games that you want:

Hope that helps smile.gif
