German = Krad/Kraftrad/Motorrad French = moto/vélomoteur versus = contre...although I seem to remember just using "versus" in school...but that was many moons ago... It might even be a generational/institutional thing wherein back in the '40s they called it one thing, and now they call it something else...or the army has a certain word it wants to use as opposed to the base jargon the civilians use. Hans Posted July 4, 2004 Author Share Posted July 4, 2004 Hi Brent I read in an account of the BOF about an incident where a French Divisional commander was captured by German motorcyclists on June 14th while being escorted to a meeting by French two wheelers. "Motard" is the colloquial French word for this, equating very roughly to "biker" in English. I haven't been able to find an equivalent in German.
