Can you shoot through tanks?

Recommended Posts

Cos i had some of my German troops hiding behide a burning sherman and this other sherman nearby started to shoot through it killing my men lol

Does this forum allow screenshots?

Oh, is it possible to re-crew an abandoned tank or pill box that's undamaged? Do the engineers fix damaged things as well as clearing mines?

Cheers

Marc :)

Yes, this forum does allow screenshots, but you must link them from a different web page. It's in the forum's FAQ, right by the search button.

But if somehow my skiff goes down, I'll freeze to death before I drown.

Only the smoke blocks line of fire.

This has an interesting effect on tactics,

since tanks in a column can effectively

mass fire directly forward. Would this

be gamey? Should I refrain from firing

'from depth' so to speak?

It works the other way around too...

This is an old issue and it has been explained by BTS quite some time go, I would recommend that you try the search function on the top right of the forum page.

Thanks, but searches usually turn up

tons of material that takes a long

time to wade through, and with my modem

and paying for connect time that isn't

feasible. Soon I will have a much

faster connection, so then I will search

more. So I just treat this more as a

'chat' board than a reference library

and ask. Sorry, if that's a problem.

Ben

Go searchanaut go.

Thanks Ben for Stepping in and posting.

I have been on the vanguard of this issue for sometime but I did not step in post the appropriate links here because I could not find them fast.

The page Ben refered to above, has ALMOST all the relevent posts and info about tanks shooting through tanks if you care to read it.

All new players to the game should be strongly encouraged to read:

Thanks Ben

Most of the time there's no practical benefit to do so.

Your opponent can also target anyone from the column.

Gamey? Yeah, sure, it would be. But I wouldn't mind either way.

Thank you Ben for posting this search reference. In some of the previous discussions on this issue, this was precisely what was needed.

One problem I have with this issue, and yes, I read the other threads, is that a dead/immobile tank, vehicle and pillboxes/bunkers are not random and variable. They are static and should be able to provide cover to other units. Moving units, that I can understand but not knocked out stuff. Once it can't move it should provide cover.

Another problem I have is abandoned vehicles/guns. If the crew just got scared and bugged out, you should be able to get them back on their vehicle/gun once they're rallied. The only reason not to be able to do this is due to miring and battle damage. Sheesh, if I rally that damned mortar crew, they won't walk 10 feet to pick up their tube and continue the mission? I'd dishonorably discharge them for cowards.
