Arrgh!

One of Pondscum's über-hetzers has survived - wait for it - 24 piat rounds, none of which came anywhere near their target! No wonder the Brits needed the americans to win the war (tongue-in-cheek).

No matter. I'm winning the infantry war, since his guys aren't even showing up for the party.

Those were PIAT rounds?! Lol - there were so many little explosions around my Hetzer that I figured it was just a fire mission from one of your 2" mortars!

I am also mourning the loss of one of my sharpshooters - but with a name like Obg. Blank, who could expect him to actually hit anything?

Treeburst155...I don't know what to tell you. I have emailed Harpooner several times and get no responce. If he doesn't resurface by the 23rd or so, you will automatically get into the next round. :cool:

I also need some updates! Where are the cool battle stories? Don't get lazy on me soldier!

Just checking in...

Charles has yet again pulled out his gamey stick and been giving my forces the fits.

Witness the following:

My ELITE JagdPanther goes down to a +100m REG zook who took his shot from inside a building. The JagP was just turned ever so slightly to allow the dastardly event.

A Hummel takes another REG zook round and goes down.

A third stray zook round sets fire to the WET building and scatters my infantry into the streets.

I still have lots of 150mm and 2+ companies of paras but...I mean...gawd!

Oh well...like some kind of boozed up lounge lizard in Vegas I am chained to the damn game and I'll continue to roll the dice until my luck changes.

It's got to change...right? anyone? Hey Waitress! another 7&7 over here! Come on buddy gimmee those dice. Alright now...baby needs a new pair of shoes!

There was 2" in the mix to create just that impression. Of course, the end result was supposed to be a dead Hetzer, not dozens of little holes in the ground.

I don't really care about who picks the forces. But I like the idea that if you do that then who gets which should be randomized someway. Also I'm not so sure I like the idea of doing attack vs. defend it's really tough to design those kinds of games for play balance without playtesting.

just my 2 cents.

Come on sock monkey send that file it's the biggest yet there is bound to be lots-o-action. :eek: :D :mad: just covering all possible out comes with the smilies.

No problem...

the 2 players can do a R,P,S PBEM match for the right to pick a side.

All the battles will be meeting engagements...and I will pick out equall forces on each side.

Do you guys want regular maps with regular setup zones? Or more of the same?

He had to mane gamey wasps and far more infantry thanme what was decisive in this battle.

Especially his large amount of piats. :mad:

Just got back to turn 17 of my game vs aaronb. He finally overran the light guns and escorting infantry on my right flank, but at the cost of (I think) two FO's worth of 3", and at least three platoons of infantry that are now too far from the victory flag to reach it in time. I like that trade-off smile.gif In the meantime, the crew of my Patented Piat-Proof Hetzer are looking forward to the end of the game - the Fuhrer has promised them three days leave if they can demonstrate invulnerability to Gammon bombs as well, and they reckon that with their incredible luck they can then go on to clean up in the casinos of Berlin.

I still think that only the votes (already expressed) of those who actually go through to the next round should count for what system gets used in that round.

34 piat rounds and counting. This must be a record - all of them were launched under 120 meters, some a lot closer.

Agreed re: voting and next round. So take PS's vote out.

Haven't gotten the big turn back yet from Sock Monkey. I fear the West Coast Wussie has gone off camping in the mountains again. Probably going there to hug a tree.

On a related note, I'm hoping that CM2 fixes some of the bizarre land-bridge effects, best illustrated by this picture.

Flag rush? I'd actually had four platoons owning the flag since turn 5 :D I went with six Hetzers for the six approach roads, a couple of 120mm mortars, light PaK and Flak for the flanks, a VG company, and a VG Fusilier company, all veteran. aaronb went with what looks like a regular battalion of British airborne plus an elite platoon, two Wolverines, a Sherman, and some elite PIATs to make up the points. My plan was to own the bridges with the Hetzers, rush most of my infantry to the flag, and then harry his advance with the Fusilier sharpshooters. This worked out pretty much as planned, with the added bonus that after my Hetzers took out his tanks they could cover the flag from the bridges. Most of my casualties occurred when my right flank was completely overrun - most of aaronb's occurred in the four platoons that he pushed close to the flag over the final two turns. And yes, the PIAT-proof Hetzer survived the battle - the crew are on the train to Berlin as we speak.

77-23 Major victory (61 casualties and 2 guns versus 202 casualties and 3 vehicles)
