Spookster
Great idea for a tourney! Question: Why are none of the elite TH Players in this tourney? Are they dodging you or are you dodging them?
Treeburst155
Hi Spookster, This was a first come, first serve tourney along with WineCape's Wine Tourney II.
KiwiJoe
Just because some of us don't participate in the TH ladder doent mean we arnt "elite". Personally no holds bared power gaming in CM isnt my cup of tea. If I want that sort of gameplay I'll go play 1 of the many sci-fi RTS games out there. I like to play semi-historically in an environment that rewards skill and tactics instead of purchasing the cheapest/most efficent units in mass. Thats not to say I dont "power game" from time to time, but for the bulk of my play CAL suits me to the ground

Treeburst155
Hi WineCape! Sock Monkey has posted to this thread a few times and has at least one game going. I've not heard from Labappel. Is anyone playing a game with him?
Spookster
Thanks for the reply. I am sure there are some very good players in this tourney! It's just whenever I play Ghost358th (?), Swamp and the other top players at TH, I get absolutely smoked. I agree that they do min-max out the ying-yang, but man-o-man they can play. Personally, I intend on dodging those fellas for a while. WineCape
Just stumbled on this post. For those that are serious in getting the wine ( ), study CM's point scoring method below to extract the max. points from your enemy.
quote:
Cp = total points of player casualties (units captured count double their casualty value) Ce = total points of enemy casualties (units captured count double their casualty value) F = total value of flags Fp = point value of flags controlled by player Fe = point value of flags controlled by enemy A = player score E = enemy score Units are worth BPV except spotters which are 30 ( Ce + Fp ) --------------- = A ( Cp + Ce + F ) or Player score = (Enemy casualties + Player flags) -------------------------------------------- (Player casualties + Enemy casualties + Total flags) Exit scenarios: - exited like it should: player gets (cost * 2.7) points - not exited like it should: opponent gets (cost * 2.7) points - killed: opponent gets (cost * (2.7 + 1.0)) points - captured: opponent gets (cost * (2.7 + 2.0)) points For flamethrower teams and trucks insert 2.3 instead of 2.7.

It might mean the difference between drinking some good wine.. or just water! I hope he picks up a few maore games so that he plans to complete to the tourney, so that my game against him will count. I think I need to set one up against Sock Monkey and I need to re-negotiate with Kiwi Joe to get a new one set up. I currently have games in progress against: Labappel Malcock (?) (jake?) greg clement Mike (stalin's organ) and can you update the latest stats to: Tom W...........98....2 games....average 49 to reflect my point from the win over Warren Miron? (what is Warrens handle here? The_Capt?) thanks -tom w P.s. Sorry Folks I will be away from e-mail all this weekend as well. Hello Kiwi Joe (I'm looking forward to next engagement!) Perhaps we can start a new round of negotiations early next week for a new set up?

Stalin's Organ
Had to laugh this morning - there's my opponent's who send me their turns at 1-2am local time, those who do so at 3-4 amd, and those who do so at 5-6am!! Bloody yanks - why can't you be in sensible time zones like Z-12 hrs??!!

labappel
Hey all, I currently have games going against Sock Monkey, Sajer, aka_tom_w, and Stalin's Organ. I have been real busy lately , but am getting about 1 turn out a day. I will be able to step it up a notch here for a bit. So, all those that are open for another game, let's hash out some details. Only concern I have is I am not a big red wine fan. I prefer the a good Washington state reisling now and again. But don't get me wrong, I am not going to allow KiwiJoe to pour it all in a bowl and go to town with cheese and crackers. BTW, aka_tom_w: Are you sure about wanting my game to count. KiwiJoe
Well you better start getting some serious wins then cause it looks like scott's gonna go down in a big way. Most of his armour is destroyed, his men are dead, paniced or hiding and I aint lost a single man yet Sajer isnt fairing much better. Every turn sees more of his men fall under artillery and direct HE fire. He's lost 2 tanks and the only thing keeping him in the game is the VL's he holds and that big old 105mm artillery he bought. I predict 2 more big wins from these games. Gotta keep my average above 80% [ 07-08-2001: Message edited by: KiwiJoe ]

Stalin's Organ
KelsieD managed to resurrect himself from about 10 pts to 44 to scrape a gamey draw ( )with me today - 48 (me), 44 Scott. It was a dark night when my few veteran paras and a platoon of Stuarts crept up to the village. As expected there was horde's of hte Hun there, but they were unable to over-run my brave boys who slew them in truely epic numbers!! They kept coming tho', and in the end there were just too many [ 07-09-2001: Message edited by: Stalin's Organ ]
Treeburst155
Here's the standings after the Stalin/KelsieD draw: KelsieD.............267.... 5..........53.4 GClement..........124.....2.........62 aka_tom_w.........98.....2.........49 Kiwi Joe..............83.....1........83 Sajer...................78.....2........39 Stalin's Organ......65.... 2........32.5 The_Capt............56.....2........28 Sock Monkey........0.....0.........0 Labappel...............0......0........0 KelsieD continues to maintain a strong average after 5 games. StugIII
Just a bump disguised as thought but would anyone be interested, after both WineCape tourneys are over, in combining the participants of both tourneys into a single elimination *seeded* tourney? The person with the highest average score per game would face the lowest average score per game and so on much like the NCAA Basketball tournement or some of the big time tennis matches (I think). If it's a dumb idea I'm sure you'll let me know. Tree- If everyone's for it would you mind organizing it?
KiwiJoe
I'll be interested in wiining that as well.
Treeburst155
I wouldn't mind keeping track of the event and organizing it but I must confess I don't know how these "seeded, elimination" things work. Somebody else would have to put together the matchups.
