Pvt. Ryan
I was just joking about Burnside. I have no idea, but a guess would be the Son bridge or one of the other bridges on the way to Arnhem? I think the Grave bridge was wood, so it wouldn't be that one.

KiloIndiaAlpha
Stavelot bridge. Built in 1576.
Pvt. Ryan
Looking at this site it appears that it is the Stavelot bridge. It is similar to the drawing and it does look like the last span was rebuilt - it is slightly different in color. http://www.indianamilitary.org/30thinfdiv/PhotoAlbum.htm
Guest *Captain Foobar*
KiloIndiaAlpha wins the first round. Good job, sir. Any insights would be appreciated, btw.. As promised, here comes the next pic. Here is a halftrack that is located on the East end of the bridge at Stavelot. If anyone has in depth knowledge of the events that took place there, (like allied and axis OOBs), I would love to hear it.. Franko
What happened in Stavelot? Well, the 30th Infantry Division got behind Peiper there. The bulk of his force was cut off to the West, trying to batter its way through Stoumont (it eventually withdrew to La Glieze, where it was largely shot to pieces). Stavelot is where the Americans turned the screws..once they got behind him, they couldnt break out. Good pics. ------------------ Ruth, Ruth! We March! Phil/1
Its not Ste. Mere Eglise, because on the bell tower of the church, there is a statue of the American paratrooper who got stuck up there when he landed on top of it. seen it on my uncles cam corder from when he went there in 1999.
