Bonjour!

Thanks to the hard work of some dedicated French CM fans, there is now a free download that will put all sorts of funny language (commonly known as French smile.gif) into CM! Check out the fantastic French CM site, Appui-Feu to get your download today!

http://appui-feu.panzershark.com

We just want to say thanks to "Magnus" and the rest of the crew that made this conversion happen. We hope to soon have more such conversions made as time goes on.

Question s'il vous plait

Is this a specific patch to add Francais in ++addition++ to the voices we already have, or does it change everything?

It changes everything textual.

From the command menu to unit info etc...

The voices are not to be worked on since they are very much french already.

(Even if none of them yell: "Where's the wine for God's sake?")

I wish Magnus or some others would answer that one in here since my part in that conversion is bordering the insignificant.

I hope that this 1.05Fr will help BTS to increase its sales in our backward french speaking province...

There, there, old fellow [patting him on back]. No need to feel bad just because you're French! After all, you couldn't help it. Here, have a Big Mac. What say we take a little trip to EuroDisney? That ought to cheer you up. biggrin.gif

Well the french version of CM:BO which should be MdC:ADdO for Mission de Combat : Au Delà d'Overlord wink.gif is composed of :

<UL TYPE=SQUARE>

* an exe file (1.05 version) with all the coded text translated in french (as accurately as possible considering the limits in text strings length) and can be substitued to your 1.05 english version CM exe.

* a Bmp set with reworked elements of the on screen interface

The conversion is avalaible for PC and will be very soon avalaible for Mac (as soon as the bmp are converted into mac graphics files)

It is totally compatible with the english version and you can defeat your english speaking foes and hamsters lovers in PBEM.

We did not altered the voices, nor did we implement the famous, "Vous habitez chez vos parents mademoiselle", biggrin.gif.

Feel free to email for any questions or comments regarding the localisation biggrin.gif

Nicolas, glad to see you in here since you are more often than not active in the french forum.

That make us a mere handful here BTW (Deanco, You, Magnus On&Off and me).

Since we're here and we have a larger audience I'd like to make a tribute to your contribution on that French forum and your usual willingness to provide speedy and accurate answers to non english speaking players and to those who are too afraid to contribute here.

Guess that makes you the french Fionn.

Thanks Pawbroon

We (Magnus, all the localisation contributors and me) have been very busy these last few days trying to get every part of CM french version as good as possible.

Well as the title of the french Fionn, I will not dare to compare my knowledge of WWII with mr Fionn's or a few others on this board.

Let me say that I found with the CM community (and its french subset) a mostly mature intelligent and sensible group of persons and that's why I try to stay an active member on both boards.

To be crystal clear with the french version,

We have not altered the wave files, germans yell in german, poles in poles etc...

The free french voices were already in the game and are very nice (Thanks Joël).

I can state that we will not tweak the voice files in order to do a 100% french speaking CM, that would IMO destroy a great part of the immersion factor.

I was just wondering if the release of french version of CM is not the perfect time to revive the much despised H39 support group.

To the newbies, one of the goals of this group was to help CMholics to get rid of the "I got a bigger gun than yours" syndrome.

How do you know you got this syndrome, well each time you play a QB you end up with nothing smaller than a Jumbo or a Tiger I. You are in terminal phase if you only pick up JagdTigers wink.gif

The H39 support group offers you a way to quit on big tanks by using the H39 fine piece of french mechanical genius biggrin.gif.

Just a query ncunio...was it called a "Hotchkiss" because of its hotchpotch design combined with some French government purchasing official's acceptance in the 1930's of the manufacturers "we'll kiss your arse heaps if you approve our wonderful design of a new French light tank". wink.gif

Nicolas,

Now just as soon as I told you how much your contributions were up to the point on Appui-feu and so very rare in here that you switch into your posting frenzy mode?

Are you on steroïds?

BTW, would you take on the gauntlet Michael Emrys has so blatantly ignore since this thread turned up?

Seeing how Magnus dropped the ball no later than the setup phase (which is unprecedented and makes for a 200% victory on the ladder), I'm still game for a PBEM with one of us frogs.

biggrin.gif

Thanks for your crusade about the H39.

Those and B1 Bis might be puny NOW, but wait for CM: Fall of France and you'll see how useful those were.

BTS - if you're interested i can help with making polish version of the game, translate and all... i speak it fluently.

I don't think there is much of community in Poland for CM which is supprising considering the extensive interest in this type of historical simulations there.

I just came back from there and the amound of books in the bookstore on the subject was plain amazing. They had books on just about EVERY variation of 251 !!!

Choice was either to release the french translation or keep playing the game ( including PBEM )...

Mind if I keep saying I did the right choice ? smile.gif

Pawbroon, Kannonier Reichmann, you have one week to confess your sins (which as french and australian are automatically numerous) and as soon as I get back from a business trip you will meet your fate wink.gif

French taunting french!!!

Sweet Mary we are tearing ourselves apart.

biggrin.gif

Ok.

Nicolas, here is the pre-requisite taunt:

Your frenchness wouldn't protect you from my frenchness since we both know for a fact that you french from those backward province you live in are so mutated by crossbreeding that you wouldn't even play coherently.

Get you bearing and breathe in a bag.

You're so victimized already that you could almost pass for an OzChap.

Oops.

Sorry I did 2 wholesale, OK yon Aussie from down there, you'd have the privilege to fight 2 frogs simultaneously.

You're not in too bad a shape since it amounts to fighting one fifth of a limey.

Mwuaahaaaaahaa.

As the now famed Chrisl would say I taunt you all.

The French confuse me. I wanna like 'em. The Rainbow Warrior assualt thrilled my heart... but at other times they can be so...

wishy-washy (let alone socialist).

I'm reminded of the American cartoon "The Critic." A school for UN children. The cafeteria. A food fight. Before the first bit of flung lunch strikes the floor, the beret clad French kids arise... and shout, "We Surrender!"
