No changes, please. I defend against enemy intel with MG fields, sniper pickets, and reserve armor. I have a light, fast, larger gunned vehicle (sometimes numerous vehicles, given the size of map) which can respond to a probe and kill it. Are you playing the Free French in this PBEM? I recommend wielding your standard issue white flag, and following it with a few slabs of brie and hunks of crusty bread washed down by a little red wine. Actually you're playing the Brits, cuz I keep shooting at the bahstahds and they keep running away. The field of conflict is huge, the immediate probing action is playing out on 1/3 of the map or less, and far from the bulk of the objective flags. Big fan of the small quick ones. Fave so far was a vickers and a kangaroo against a track and a panzer (I believe). I lost. But with Fionn's AARs recently I've embarked on a 3000pt/large map PBEM. Juardis and I are going to run it out over a month or so... no big hurry, with numerous smallers and scenarios in between. The idea of managing a lot of territory, recon, and reserves looks pretty cool. This game has so much depth, I'm happily surprised every time I play.

Buy some conscript nebelwurfer boys. They can't make those indiscriminate killers any better, but they would be cheap enough to make your opponent wet his pants. Nothing worse than watching nebels come in (randomly) and praying your troops don't take one. BTS has heard it and know, but that won't stop me from standing up and raising my hand again for this feature. (Plus more AAR, lots more AAR)

As to accessiblity of this game... My boy, not yet 2, can pick a tank out of a bunch of tracks. Next up: the Sherman variants.

I haven't touched any other games on my disk other than card games (which I play waiting for Juardis' counter-moves to download). I've been hitting the Shiraz (I believe it may be from an Aussie vine) this evening, it is delightful and sends one's head a-flutter. As my current digital SO is merely the visual manifestation of ones-and-zeros... I thought I might wax eloquent. Juardis is my illicit CM-SO, but I may wish to play the field here shortly. Ideally I'd like to play someone that will decimate my defense in short order (but playing nearly equal points). A CM stud for hire, who knows his tactics and can move his assets with alacrity. Whether it's worth the investment in time? I've done a few solo OPs and enjoyed them-- but one in particular only took 15 turns (I was on the Off.) It's a lot of time to invest, and if it turns out that it stinks... I'd rather invest the time in some good scenarios.

This thread single handily changed my force selection and tactics in a PBEM I recently started. All I had was reverse slope cover as the hills in the setup were so shallow and my opponent commanded the high feature (plus 2 story structure). A .50 cal would have stunted the entire attack for two turns. Made me change everything, whereas I had assumed I would at least have some cover for my troops. I wish BTS would respond to this. I thought this was adequate cover as well, given my reading of a Fionn AAR (Sunken Road).

After my first usage of the aforementioned nebelwurfer, targeting 2 dug in AT guns-- I promptly punished the spotter by trotting him directly into the aforementioned AT guns firing arc. Mr. "Spotter" managed to knock out 2 whole p'grend'r squads over a hill and hundreds of meters away with 2 count that two (zwei) (dos) tree bursts directly over the hiding bastards. 2x8 ok. BOOM BOOM 2x8 dead. He also rattled two other kraut squads and killed a kraut HQ. No, Non, Keiner, allied dead (tot). Great scenario WBW. Friday night I thought I won it-- just a little mopping up. Saturday I wasn't too certain, and by Sunday I surrendered. Great emotional swings. Gave it a five star against a human (which is, btw, a generous characterization of Juardis). SPOILS FOLLOW!! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I really could have used another platoon of troops-- two if that isn't too greedy.
