  1. Ok thanks. That's all I wanted to know, they should take whatever time is necessary. Marcus
  2. I have an even better suggestion. How about everyone stops complaining about anything? Complaining about complainers doesn't really improve the mood here. Friendly suggestions and questions is one thing but the constant venom is tiresome. It belongs on Usenet . Marcus
  3. Not to forget that there are more Linux installations than Mac:s for which there's a CM. Plus it's growing every month. Marcus
  4. Where did you get that idea? IBM wouldn't have invested 300 million USD in Linux if they didn't want to make some cash. Borland is soon releasing Kylix for Linux. Some games available for Linux -Jagged Alliance 2 -Civilisation Call to Power More to come And btw if you download copyrighted software without paying you are still a pirate no matter what. Marcus
  5. I think those present at the telia ASL page are great. Some are too hard but I stil love them . Marcus
  6. I still think the ASL scenarios are great. It's really fun to see those boards come alive. One thing I would like for CM2 is the ability to merge 2 maps. Now you have to start from scratch if you want to merge maps 12 and 13 (as an example) Marcus
  7. My 2 öre on the subject. These bad vibe threads are really bringing down the mood of this forum. I think BTS should be faster to lock up these threads. (like they did today for instance). You can generally sence where the thread is heading from the first post. In addition they should delete the threads completelly to make the board easier to read. I want the friendly tone that was here before the release back. Marcus
  8. I saw that combathq has some German,US and other tunes. I wonder if there's something similar for Russian WW2 tunes? So far I've found Katyusha which is fantastic to listen to while playing (yeah I know wrong front). Is there anything else (legal) connected tot he war one can find? I was thinking of buying some of those Red Army choir cd:s. Thanks in advance Marcus
  9. Still waiting for CM2 where I hopefully can hear Finns say "Perkele" in the typical Finnish way ) Marcus
  10. Thanx alot Tommi, My grandfathers brother fought as a cpt somwhere in that regiment. This is why I was interested . Marcus
  11. I don't know if it's cheating but I made my working colleagues who doesn't play games at all vote. Some solidarity Marcus
  12. Just wondering. What differs this from the CMMC hosted by the CMHQ? I don't want to involve myself too much and thereby making someone dissapointed. Marcus
  13. The Basques also play bagpipes. There's one guy now with an album. He sells alot apparently (at least according to the commersials). Bagpipe virtuousos, how many are there really? Marcus
  14. I also want bagpipes when playing with Scottish forces. One option/idea I came up with was to include an ambient sound in the scenario editor. One could add various music/sounds depending on front. The Russian equivalent would be lots of harmonicas and balalaikas . The Germans could use some umpha music from Bavaria. Marcus
  15. I would like to add that except for some of the elite forces like USMC, Gurkhas, SAS etc most of the quallity an army posseses is determined on where they fight and why they fight. I don't think Israelis would perform particullary well fighting in Mongolia mainly because there wouldn't be any point for them being there in the first place. Russians for instance are notoriously good at defending the mother land but sucks totally when sent out on missions outside actual Russia. I bet that similar degradation would occur if the US army was sent out on a mission in Antarctica without any logical reason . Some good examples are US in Vietnam and Somalia, Russia in Afghanistan and Chechnya. At the same time the US army performed excellent while fighting the nazis in Europe. There's probably thousands of factors determining quallity. Marcus
  16. It should be Sven Hassel sorry . It was eons ago when I read them. In any case I didn't think they were extremelly realistic either but it still shouldn't be totally unrealistic that soldiers continue fighting through a chain of battles. If I'm not totally wrong some Germans were transferred between the fronts also. My main point however was that yes it would be somewhat "gamey" but imo it is a game and some features could be added for the sheer game value that they add. It still wouldn't be criminally wrong to add this it could happen in theory and it did happen that soldiers fought through the entire war. Marcus
  17. Regarding campaigns BTS has many times explained in detail why they decided to not include campaigns. It's possible that it is more realistic and I respect their decision. With all due respect to BTS I think they are wrong on this one. Anyone who have read the excellent Roland Hassel books knows what I'm talking about. The possibility to follow some green amateurs to crack veteran soldiers would be fantastic imo. I don't think Steel Panthers worked very well in this department to be frank, there were simply too many troops to get personally attached to them. Close Combat1 worked best so far. This should be spiced up even more with the inclusion of medals (in any case) and other awards. Even if this is considered gamey or something I think BTS should consider this for the games sake (it is a game after all I want to play). If not CM2 maybe CM4 or something. Just my 2 öre Marcus
  18. Just figured it would be cool to create a new forum for CM2. It would be easier to follow wishlists and planned features. Marcus
  19. Borderbill ------------------------------------------ Hard earned tax dollars? I've haven't seen any of our politicians working too hard to obtain these dollars. ------------------------------------------- I'm from Sweden so it should be tax crowns . Or € for in a near future. Sweden has also had a big defence debate since the govt decided to decimate the defence forces. Apparently the big bear is not so dangerous anymore . It's a pity imo since it takes decades to build up a good defence and nobody knows what mad man might come up somewhere. I also think it was a mistake to lease 200 Leopards from Germany. It would be better to put the cash in a airmobile force. Choppers/Airforce are the future. God I wish Major H and BTS makes a modern version . Imagine a Vietnam version of CM *drewl* Marcus
  20. Guys, give BTS a break now. IMO they deserve a vacation first. Hopefully they are at some sunny beach somewhere (Trinidad, Bahamas?). I haven't even got the game yet but I still think they deserve some relaxation before starting on CM2. Marcus
  21. I hope they model the Katuschas "Stalin Organs" correctly. They weren't very precise but they compensated with volume instead. As allways in USSR doctrine . The best effect of these "organs" were on the unit moral though. The actual casualties were prettty low I think. The whining sound broke down the poor sods. Marcus
  22. It's a real bitch trying to find Polish or French info though. Looking but still nothing good. Topographical maps aren't exactly easy to find either. Unless you actually live nearby and buy some Orientation maps Marcus
  23. In the book I'm reading they are just crossing the Rhine. It mentiones "Buffaloes". Is this a special vehicle or just a nick name for something? Marcus
