Warmonger
Hello, Can you recommend some books which would enhance my knowledge and ability to play combat mission. Perhaps, somebody has created a webpage answering this question that you could direct me too. Thx
M. Bates
There aren't any books that could help your playing knowledge, but there is a list of war related books at the CMHQ. Play plenty of Quick Battles against the computer and look at the tips and techniques forum to improve.
Sharpie
Try "Lorraine 1944" Patton v's Manteuffel from Osprey Military. Great read excellent maps if you wish to re-create a battle.
T34Rules
In preparation for CM2 (i know a wee bit premature) you might want to consider some of the fabulous Glantz map compilations of major battles on the Eastern Front........fantastic stuff. Mr. Clark
They are not much for tactics primers, but the best books I've read so far are: A Blood-Dimmed Tide - Which will give you a nice overview of the Battle of the Bulge from the view of the participants. Currahee! - Which follows a Screaming Eagles account of paratroop training and the drop and first days of fighting into Normandy.
OGSF
quote:
Originally posted by Warmonger: Can you recommend some books which would enhance my knowledge and ability to play combat mission.

Hi, The book I refer to again and again, is the "Encyclopedia of Land Combat, Vol 1" by HPS Simulations. It lists just about every vehicle and weapon used by the major participants in WWII with descriptions, info and in mst cases a photo or line drawing. Helps me a lot in unit selection and judging the capabilities of *all * the eqipment on the field of combat, mine and my opponents. Can be ordered at http:\\www.hpssims.com. For tactics, there is Doubler's book "Closing with the Enemy" covering GI tactics from D-Day through to may 1945. Plus, check out MadMatts CMHQ site. There is also valuable reading there on tactics, including a walk through on infantry tactics using the in-game tutorial scenario "Grosshau Ridge" (spelling is wrong but you'll find it in the game scenraio listing). Hope that helps! OGSF
Chupacabra
Try also http://carlisle-www.army.mil/usamhi/DL/chron.htm They've got a ton of stuff on US Army tactics 1944-45. Not all is applicable to CM for various reasons, but there are some useful nuggets. ------------------ Soy super bien, soy super super bien, soy bien bien super bien bien bien super super.
