pintere
It's too bad that the Begleit-Grenadier squad found in the Sturmartillerie brigades is as rare as it is. It's basically the perfect German infantry squad as far as CM is concerned, with three elements totaling 7 StG 44, 3 Gewehr 43 + 1 LMG & rifleman, for 12 soldiers total. It's size and loadout mean that it can effectively engage infantry at any range whether on offense or defense, and like most other German infantry squads of this time there's also a couple Panzerfausts per squad. Probably the best choice to go with for frustrated German players when playing either quick battles or PBEM.

Also keep them as long as practical in their Hanomags aka Halftracks they are mobile Foxholes to keep formation with the Panzers. Against enemy infantry especially Soviets keep their tactical range at 300 meters and avoid allowing enemy infantry inside 200 meters.
MikeyD
Ah, that's a good point. CMRT you're liable to be facing Russian SMG squads. You can keep them at arm's length and knock them down with impunity using your SMGs. But once they've closed with you they'll chew to to pieces

So basically the optimal range is between 200 m and 300 m: - below 200 m the Soviet smG get the upper hand ; - beyond 300 m the German LMG effciency goes down. Do I get your point?

Do I get your point? Well the maximum range of SMG in general is 200m in CM. If you can keep them under that range you simply cannot be hit back by them except for the single DP machine gun they usually have. They may be not as effective at this range but the further the range goes down the more they grow in potential. Around 100m they will most likely pin any opposition when they get the chance for it. Go further down and they will shred enemy infantry. The germans however can obviously hit farther with their rifles and MG. Farther than even 300m but the effectiveness will go down and so does the ability to spot. Edited April 23 by Brille

But their AT-Rifles are a force to be reckoned with. Panzer Grenadiers as the name suggests are there to be in formation with their armor. The German artillery is not as good as that of the US forces or even British Commonwealth. You fight against the Soviets not in the same way as the Western Allies. Make the most of the lack of Soviet communication.
