groundpounder
Ok, Let's see how many real US veterans are on here. 1. What does FIIGMO mean? 2. What does DILLIGAF mean? 3. What must you say to the DI just before leaving the fireing range? GP [This message has been edited by groundpounder (edited 10-14-2000).]

ScoutPL
Actual answer: No brass no ammo. I always thought the acronym stuff was for the guys that didnt bring a book along. Thinking up silly acronyms gave them something to do while the rest of us read or slept. So I dont know the first two. Maybe CavScout does. groundpounder
You guys are right on number 3. "No brass no Ammo Drill Sergeant!" I'll give 1 and 2 some time. They may be tied to a specific time period. GP

BTW, I think the old sub-caliber LAW practice rockets (not the silly 9mm tracer rounds for the AT-4) were the most fun training device ever made. OT, but I have to: (long time Blues fan) Brett Hull just scored his 614th goal to pass Mario Lemiuex as the #8 all-time NHL goal scorer. Guest barrold713
I am a Navy Vet (USS Nimitz CVN-68 1985-88) so some of the Army ones might elude me. However we did use DILLIGAFF with an extra 'F' for 'Flying' BOHICA was a favorite. Anyone know this one? FTN was kind of ubiquitous and it should be easy to fiqure out. Any others? ------------------ "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb discussing what to have for lunch. :USERNAME:
FTA all the way Yeah the LAW trainer was cool. I got a direct hit on a BMP turret at max range. DI (who believe it or not hated my ass) screamed "NICE F**ING SHOT!!!". It was the only decent thing he said to me. Lewis

Guest barrold713
It might be as I have never heard anyone but a squid use it but my experience is not universal. BOHICA=Bend Over Here It Comes Again FTN was correct. Also saw TPS as grafetti and this stood for 'This Place Sucks' Thanks for bringing back some humorous memories. I gotta' sit down some day and compile a list of all these acronyms. I imagine somebody already has though. I'll have to do a search on it. Those dudes didn't stay in THAT job long! I remember seeing guys pull the pin and 2 seconds later if it was not thrown, the instructor was screaming "throw it, get rid of it!". I never saw anyone drop a grenade, but I've heard that it happens. GP
dmart
Grenades were cool, but dangerous as hell. True story: new recruit on grenade range with training NCO in bunker. Pin pulled, then chopper overflies range. Check Fire! Training NCO doesn't realize that the recruit had already let off enough pressure, so grenade goes off in bunker. No chance in that environment. Those NCOs wanted off of that duty in a hurry.
