bangers
I am playing a scenario that starts at 06:30, and it's very dark, which makes it very difficult to play. One way round this is to create oversized target circles around every unit, so the map is bathed in a ghostly yellow light when a unit is selected, but this is not ideal. Is there a way of increasing the light, other than changing the start time ? Edited February 17, 2018 by bangers
Holman
Look into the hotkeys. Alt-B toggles between dark and artificially bright night lighting.
Erwin
Sometimes you just have to increase the monitor's gamma or brightness. Can't understand why some like night scenarios. By the time one has increased the brightness so one can actually see anything, you basically have a daylight scenario with crappy green or washed out graphics.

Wow, what an excellent new feature, thanks Holman
Warts 'n' all
Although you can toggle as described by Holman. The guys on the ground in the winter of '44/45 couldn't do it, so I don't either. Perhaps I'm a glutton for punishment.

I seldom play a night scenario without it (in preference, I try to avoid night scenarios altogether, but some are too good to miss). Warts 'n' all
Just play in the dark, and hum Nat Cole's "Let there be love" as you slaughter the foe.

It's purely cosmetic. It merely helps the player better see what your troops have already seen.

I make a point of yelling "Fire a flare!" every time I press Alt+B
