Hunt for vehicles too fast?

Recommended Posts

You're generally better off giving the AFV multiple waypoints with short pauses at the waypoints to spot. Stationary vehicles spot much better than vehicles even on SLOW.

Doing it this way also lets you regulate where the vehicle stops to spot. In general, you want it to stop and look around for a few seconds at each point it encounters a significant LOS condition change; ideally somewhere hull down or similar.

Yeah place a waypoint at the next "hex" the next closest spot to put a waypoint using the Hunt command then click on the waypoint and then click on pause and have them pause there awhile say for 15 seconds .. you can even give them a facing too at this way point and I believe have them shoot too. Anyway this allows one to creep along it also allows the player to creep through the battle extending them indefinatelly but I love it

You can stack one move command, one combat command and a Special command (though they're not all eligible) on each action spot. Some combinations aren't relevant or permitted, but you can order area fire (or fire at a target, though that won't work if the target's gone) or target arcs from any waypoint, along with a Pause. The unit will obey that combat command until it reaches a waypoint with a different combat command on it, so you can have a 30s (or so) area fire stop (add a pause to the waypoint) followed by a short Fast move that has a Face or circular CA on it; your vehicle probably won't fire much/often during the short Fast move.

I had especially lobbied for slowing down Churchill which had been specifically designed to be a walking pace infantry support tank. I believe Churchill could be set for 4-5km hr and just allowed to trundle forward without the driver needing to apply the gas. The other tanks, Cromwell especially, could be pretty quick on their feet when they wanted to be.
