GerryCMBB
Hello All: In CMFI I have seen shaken Italians in a building running out of the building and towards the enemy and a certain death. I though maybe it was the poor quality of Italian troops. Now I have seen it with German troops as well. Wondering if this is a bug? Wouldn't it make more sense for them to run the other way? I realize they are not in a good mental condition but still... Thanks, Gerry
Vanir Ausf B
I'm not 100% sure, but I think that in CMx2 routed troops flee towards the friendly edge of the map regardless of where the enemy units are. So if the enemy is between them and the friendly map edge they will flee towards the enemy. Come to think of it, I believe this was true in CMx1 also.
Baneman
Yep, it was true in CM1 too - although the "friendly map edge" ALWAYS seems to be towards the enemy. I remember panicked men crawling 50-100m under fire while safety was 2m to their left You got so tired of screaming at your pixeltroops that eventually you wanted them to die ! Lol, good times.
Boche
I hade a German tank crew commander, (the only survivor and panicing), jump out of his burning pzIV, and run towards the enemy, stopping some 30 metres from the anti tank gun and spraw away with his Walther. He survived and was given the Iron Cross.....
LongLeftFlank
Yeah panicked units do seem to banzai charge the enemy a lot, but they also do run backwards and hide (as you'd expect) a lot too. My best read is that they favour the nearest cover terrain, even if enemy held.
